Kids learn from stuff that had happened to them or around them.

This isn't the first time MC had got caught in a situation like this.
Plus he is the type to think of evidence to prove his innocence.
So, knowing that he could call a Lawyer in such a situation isn't that odd.

MC is like around the age of 7-10 during this incident. It's not that odd to have that kind-off awareness, especially since law related stuff kind-off do pop-up in TV Drama's and other media easily.

What was the kid doing there so late? it isn't high-school where it's pretty common for kids to do their own thing, at that age they're rarely completely unsupervised like that, why wasn't he picked up from school or at his after school club, maybe 5 minutes by himself I would get but an hour after school is very unusual

In Asian society, unless the school is really close to home, and someone from the family is at home.
Rarely anyone goes to pick up their kids after they are around 7-8 or older.

This is especially common in homes which have both working parents and no one else at home, or the parent who is at home is too busy with house work.

And in such scenario, kids arriving an hour or so late might not be considered odd, if the said kid has habit of arriving home late to begin with, and the parents probably think/know that their kid is playing with their friends on the way home.

Mind you, his mom is not even bad imo, she is a single mother and that shit is difficult already.

Problem is, she had been a single mom for quite a while by this point, and actually focused a lot on her Daughter and her needs.

But for whatever reason, she always assumed that MC was very capable and didn't need the care or focus a child needed.
Because unlike her Daughter who demanded stuff quite frequently, MC didn't demand much from his Mother understanding that she is busy and having a hard time. So she basically took MC's feelings for granted.

She would regularly forget about stuff related to her son (though would remember stuff related to her daughter).
And even though she believed that her son was capable, her trust in him was almost nil.
Since, if any problematic situation occurred, she would always react as if she was accusing him.
And, even after understanding all that, she still kept making the same mistakes with him regularly.

Giving her a pass, just because of her "single mother" status isn't really accurate.

I love coming to the comments for this series for the sole purpose of seeing how many Neanderthals forget to turn their brain off for this series, then rant about how horrible all the teachers, classmates, and girls in general are. Like no sh*t Sherlock, really? Its almost like the series is written this way on purpose for edge lords to fulfill their vindictiveness and live vicariously through the mc.

You may say that, but a lot of stuff showcased in this series do actually happen in real life.

Like, when i was in school, i was severely punished by a part-time teacher (for not doing homework), that i couldn't move for a while (he had pinched my thighs so hard that they had become black).

My parents did make minor complaints with the school, but nothing happened, and i didn't go to school for nearly 3-4 weeks.
By the time i went back to school, that teacher had left the position a few days back, as he had found a permanent job else where.

That part-time teacher was famous in the school for regularly being violent with his punishment on the students, but no action was ever taken (he also once used the "chinese water torture" method on me for punishment using my own water bottle which had a leak when turned upside down, while i was made to do headstand against the wall).

And not just him, even some of my home tutors punished me regularly (they couldn't touch my sister for obvious reasons, so everything came towards me instead). As for my parents, they didn't really complain much except a few times, as finding home tutor was hard at that time in my area when i was in school, and my sister needed help in her studies.

In many Asian region, parents still accept corporal punishment as acceptable in school, and teachers & adults not listening to what kids say is also common, because of the famous notion that "kids lie to protect themselves, so never trust what they say".

Now he is basically broken inside.
And as he is older, he is able to control himself somewhat.

The problem is that MC's bad luck with Women just didn't allow him to recover as he needed to, and instead things just kept piling up.
