I think this manga had good potential, but was poorly executed. It feels very much like a classic example of āshow donāt tellā.
The MC says something that signifies his traumas like āIāll never help you again,ā and we witness several flashbacks throughout the manga and this kinda feels like the artist is spoon feeding us information which makes the story feel impersonal, like Iām reading about his life in a text book.
IMO it would have been better to show how the trauma completely interferes with any normal day-to-day function. Going to school with all that trauma is already kind of odd, but itās necessary for the setting of the story. The manga would have been better (imo) if they showed him struggling to do something basic and the thoughts and guilt involved with failing to do so.
And I think this is where the problem with the art lies, the MC has no light in his eyes AT ALL. which is typical of anime, but only when the character is shown to be completely broken or depressed, something that the MC isnāt shown to be due to the nature of his interactions. So he just ends up looking weird and awkward, given how he acts pretty normal.
Overall, the premise is interesting, but the characterization of the MC and execution of the story was botched.
