Sounds as if some readers were beating on author-san for the enormous plot-hole, and he eventually retconned an explanation.

From what I recall of the WN, it was a pretty good reason. Though also a bit of a cop out from another angle.

its revealed through the bulletin board fairly early in the series, like I expect this to be revealed in two or three chapters, that MCs twin sisters are geniuses. Like omega geniuses. They've become billionaires. Through stock market and have actually been the source of income due to garbage parents.

Mid game (like. Chapters 100/200) is revealed they actually found the culprit immediately due to cameras the sisters personally installed. Said cameras were there for the sake of security, in particular because the twins were big brain during elementary school, they got press and presumably stalkers.

However, it's revealed that their big bro, MC, was transported to another world, furthermore in a forest thats highly likely to kill him. In order to ensure he survives, one of the sisters decides it best to fan the flames, for exactly the reason MC suspects. They all want to watch him die. This gets him viewership, which gets crystals for his survivability. They also apprehended the culprit since the worst thing he could do at the moment is turn himself in and the flame ends, so he was kidnapped by the yakuza (their grandfather a former head of one). They chose to keep him in custody until after the forest survival event.

Then the unexpected event of god letting the chosen see the messages. Rather, they expected it, but were caught off guard due to reprieve of having their bro successfully survive. They sent messages detailing the truth, but as the situation shows, MC vows to never look at his messages again before he sees his sister's message as they were too deep in inbox of hate. They decide to keep the criminal in custody at this point since, might as well keep the flame viewers to improve his future survival.

Author did lay the ground work for this solution to not be out of left field. But I feel it's still a bit of a cop out by giving the mc genius sisters who became billionaires through their intellect (which for the record. They created a translation AI since other world viewing wasn't auto translated. They monopolized the industry as well as their bros streams.)
Also the cameras. If they were hidden, then... well why hide them. If you were trying to apprehend criminals instead of simply deterring. I actually wouldn't put past the sisters with their characterization. Author didn't go into depth on this front however, so its left with a small plot hole.

The translator for the WN also mentions how split the readers were over liking MC or not. Ultimately comes down to whether or not you believe the MC was justified to never look at his message inbox.
As a weak willed person myself who mutes everyone whenever in a league game because I can't take flame, I can relate. Literally I would act just as MC did and "mute" the inbox (tackle on the fact that he just survived a life or death trek and is now being hounded by millions that he killed his best friend with the full awareness that anything he says that isn't a "confession" will fall on deaf ears)
I also know people who are all "don't be a baby. Lol. Too sensitive bro." The thicker skinned mates, who would find Hikaru's downfall to be annoying and baseless.

Only 1000 people across the entire world. The odds are incredibly slim. Like. Lottery-level slim. That there's anyone he would remotely recognize. Especially since it seemed like childhood friend was the only one within their area to be selected. Furthermore he and every other person was isekaid the day of the murder. Literally no one who was isekaid knew about this drama. Not really a valid complaint unless I'm misinterpreting your comment.

Here is something that you might have issues with though.

There are about 300 deaths among the 1000. Furthermore among the 700, there are only two people who were transported close to him. Makes sense. 1000 people getting randomed to literally anywhere on the globe. If anything kind of a miracle.

Person 1, boy A, is extroverted and overall a good guy from US. He is also miraculously in the same city MC is in. The first time they meet, and MC sweats bullets. One of the flame comments was that they were gonna send an assassin after him. Get ready. Lol.

He cannot trust this man. People who want him dead most certainly would go to his inbox and tell him how awful MC is and deserves to die. So he chooses to avoid Boy A.

In a future event, MC supporters ask Boy A to go tell MC the truth. Or at the very least, to open his inbox to let him know people believe in him.

Due to some events, MC has a better impression of Boy A and doesn't feel strictly uncomfortable around him at this point. Nevertheless, the moment Boy A mentions anything about the inbox and the "incident," dark thoughts sprout. MC can't think straight anymore. He begs Boy A to never mentioning anything about it again. Boy A complies seeing how bad MC is triggered.

MC is basically unable to believe that his viewers can't be anyone else but people who want him dead. His mind is in a really bad place. Impostor syndrome is a thing, and when his first impression to getting out of a forest where his life hanged in the balance, only to be greeted not by fans, but flame? Furthermore claiming HE murdered his childhood friend? It broke him.

Should be noted too that he eventually does get urges to open his inbox at the behest of others. He understands that their could be supporters among his viewers around mid-point. But whenever he tries to reach for that button, he can't pull the trigger. The only thing he can remember is absolute despair.

The issue isn't whether it's silly; it's whether it's objectionable. I've met many people who prioritize horribly in the real world; I don't want to read lengthy presentations of their stories.

And one could write a story about a person who truly had experiences that would crush anyone, and therefore balled-up in a corner for the rest of his or her life; but I don't want to read page after page of that either.
