i like that (eventually) we learn that everything has a reason and its not just that the protag is super dense. the reasons for some of the things may be a pretty big stretch, but its better than most other hero party banishment stories that just make characters act out-of-character-dumb to make drama. Also no dumbass “corrupt government officials arc“ to waste our time.
