Well they don't have the same issues they had as adults. They're students now and not employed in a soul sucking job. They are living their lives without all of the stress so they can communicate better. The drama is what caused the divorce in the first place.

They didn't even truly hate each other, they were bitter and openly spiteful, but clearly melancholic about splitting up, even wishing that it didn't have to go that way.
Their main issue was lack of communication, and time when they became busy in their adult lives, so now they're learning to not be so freaking stupid.
