Why the hell haven’t you executed Justus yet?
The whole can't deviate from the original plot is such a stupid mentality. What, he won't know what's going to happen if he kills Justus this early? He definitely knows what happens by following the plot and that's his death and a ton of suffering for everyone he's ever known. I'm ready for him to break free of the plot and kill the mad scientist already, especially if we're 88 chapters in and only now getting to the beginning of the events of the game.
You look at Justus and see a scientist you think you could easily snap the neck of.
I look at Justus and see somebody I know the author has rated as having SSSSS tier combat capabilities.

Wasn't it revealed that their Earth is dying and that Justus is the only one who can save it? So he has to let the story progress to a degree where that happens?
Eeh... Aren't Justus's experiments the very things that are damaging the world? Am I remembering this utterly wrong? As I recall it, he's a mad scientist whose ambition is to do anything that can be done, just for the sake of doing it. He doesn't really care what his deeds are doing to the world or the peoples living there.

I assume the world itself is slowly dying/corrupting so destruction is inevitable, Justus's experiments is merely accelerating that.

Without Justus in the picture, it might take longer to reach destruction, but who knows if they'd have someone on the same level of Justus's intellect to figure out the solution to the planet's corruption by then. The world was already beginning to break down much earlier than Harold thought after all. If he cuts the guy down too early, sure it would slow down the destruction but it won't solve the actual problem.

Justus would have been working on his projects for many years already. In the first place, he would have needed to have a whole lot of promising things to show to the government to even get nominated into his high position and secure the funding. The likes of the general wouldn't pay him any attention if he was a nobody. So, he must have been doing his science before Harold was even born. The traditional method for someone like Justus would be to create a disaster in secret and then appear to publicly offer a solution to it. That would gain him recognition and sponsors.

I reckon the problem with the timing of the events, what comes to the anomalies and such, is that once the world is not a game anymore, Justus would have no need to wait. In the game things happened roughly when the player was ready for them and when plot points were triggered. But since it's not a game anymore, Justus would do his things whenever he feels like he has the resources for them. He won't mysteriously wait until the hero, Liner, is powerful enough to deal with them. At least some things might still happen as expected (by Harold), since Justus simply needed time to experiment with the Starchant Stellar tribe, for example, so he couldn't have done this any sooner.

Things are finally moving forward. Apart from Harold flirting with Erica, that's the only thing I want from this story.

It's kind of sad Liner dreams of joining the Chivalric Order, but that order is pretty much useless in the big picture, having been compromised by the corrupt government and armed forces.

I'd assume he doesn't have the means to do it. Justus is the final boss. Harold would know exactly how tough an opponent Justus is, and knowing that, he can't do anything. At least I couldn't come up with another reason why not.

I think there was something about how if he kills Justus now there's a ton of plans he made that would straight up blow the whole world to smithereens, hence why he needed the heroes to go through it systematically? might be wrong tho.

That said, it's been long as shit since I last read the novel for this. Can someone spoil just how far we are from the WN/LN?

Think it follows the same logic that filters Harold's speech patterns into aggressive sarcasm. Just like with his new little brother, being caught in an enemy nation's uniform, and then railroaded so hard you expect a freight train at any moment.

Even when Harold changes important core plot points, the narrative still finds a way to maintain the storyline. So while he might have been able save Collette's mother, they still had to escape, Harold was still called a murder for burning her to death.

So he can't just kill Justice without a narrative backed reason.
We also shouldn't leave out that every Decision against his Fate he made as a Child had accelerated the Events of the Games. (Reducing the Miasma Suffering in Erikas Domain and other things resulted in the attack in the Forest happening a Year early etc)

You neither can't change Fate, nor out run it.

It's been a while since ive read the light novel, but Im pretty sure I remember something about how, due to something Justus is doing, Harold as he is now just straight up isnt capable of killing Justus at all, at least not at this point in the game's story. It might have something do with the "Astral Body" stuff brought up in this chapter, but again, this is just vague recollections.

Does anyone have a complete pdf of the novel's English translation? Most of the websites are gone and even the wayback machine seems to be missing chapters.

The LN speeds up from here quite a bit once the "Hero" Liner starts moving. LN is in the Endgame as of chapter 384? Though the author seems to not have an idea on how to end it with the slow pace of chapter releases now.

Building off what @Kanashi said, the planet itself is corrupting/dying. Hence the Irregular monster that shows up in Ch 37 - Irregular. Harold covers more of the situation in Chapter 38, but specifically says why he can't on page 14. Only Justus as a mad scientist has the knowledge to stop the destruction of the planet. So he has resigned himself to following the story plot as much as he can to force the Happy Ending, hopefully with him not dying.
Huh? From what I remember, Justus was the one corrupting the planet, right? Or did I mix things up?

So the game is finally starting ?
88 chapters in!!! We’ve got hella backdrop for the main story now so I’m curious if things will speed up. All the major players (to our knowledge) have been introduced. Anyone else I assume will br characters from the game only used in the main story and not outside of it, i.e. “less important NPCs”
