My first order of business in his situation would have been using the spell creation kajigger to create every spell I can recall from D&D so they work off this world's system. It'd be quite an extensive selection of magic, given so many years of nerding it up. Pretty much a spell for any conceivable situation you could ever get into. Turning the item creation feats into some sort of spell would probably be pretty useful too, so you could turn a few of those spells into a "set it and forget" kind of deal by wearing an item with that effect.
