My theory is Chise isn't the only one back in time. Some of the class seem a little off for their age. Chise herself revealed she didn't invent time travel, but learned it from someone else... Which smells like a smoking gun to me.

Speaking of time travel, or rather, mind transfer.(?) This can get pretty grim if Chise keeps on repeating the travel to get her desired outcome with sensei, just like Yuno Gasai, becoming yandere and obsessive.
