The number of ships the Protag has is a little confusing, previous chapter stated they had 8000 ships but deploys 3000 ships while the Pirates continue to bring their full 30,000 ships to bear.
Well, they did say "the ships available". He may have 8000, but he sent a bunch with the traders, for example. Some others may be undergoing maintenance or doing other duties. The force he could mobilize to fight the pirates would be just the 5000.
Honestly, I'm not too fond of MC going to battle with no battle plan and issue vague command like "full frontal assault". They laid trap mines but it seems like that wasn't even MC's ideas, just competent military staff which got told-off later for their delay tactic.
It makes MC come off like a petulant child more than an evil tyrant. Maybe that's intentional, but it definitely could be depicted better.
Yeah, it's weird because at this point he has lived in this world for nearly 40 years, and spent considerable time in the learning capsule. Military tactics would be the very basics for a feudal lord, specially with his interest in personal strength. We keep getting timeskips and are told how diligent he is being, but he is also being constantly reminded of basic common sense things in each scene.
ewww what the fuck are these warships, space whales?
I guess that's why they couldn't sell. The design being ass was the main issue.
Bro is gonna become a Hero while trying to pursue the Villain path 💀
The problem of having a long term view of things: evil is short sighted. He also isn't impulsive. His manor is filled with beautiful maids, but he doesn't feel like going after them. He likes the fantasy of being an evil lord, but he doesn't actually want the reality of it.
