It didn't look like he was killed by Liam's guys, if he was killed by anyone he was killed by one of house Berkley's guys, why did the guide say it was Liam's underling that killed him?

The panel implies that one of Liam's ninjas may have sabotage the poison container, so the Berkley guy never got the chance to use it.

So an inconsistency I've realised is that Liam shouldn't be angry or hold a grudge about his past life anymore - we've been shown that when the demon feeds on the negative emotions, he essentially purifies the people he does it to. He fattened up Liam's past life with misery, sure, but then he must have fed on him at the end.
So why is Liam still bent up over his past life and reacting to it?

I suppose we could say that he's just fulfilling his dying wishes (of being an evil villain), rather than holding a grudge?

I think the guide hasn't actually consume all Liam's negative emotions. At least that's how I interpreted ch 1.
He wanted Liam to be fattened up with even more misery after reincarnation. That's why he set Liam up with fake swordmaster etc.

That seems to be how he did thing in the past. He only started absorbing negative emotions immediately because all Liam's gratitude made him super weak, and he really needed that nourishment.

Sadly if his grudges have no connection to Liam he can't absorb them as well anymore. He literally has to get revenge against Liam or die trying.
