Exactly. All those attempts of her sending 'hints', any good, humble man wouldn't take those to mean she's interested in him. Regardless of looks, some don't want to risk it and get called a sexual harasser out of a misunderstanding, and the risk of ruining their reputation is higher than before with social media and video cameras recording everything, more so if they edit out some parts to fit the video into the context the camerawoman wants, damaging his image further.
Unfortunately, that doesn't play into "demure" (re: passive) feminine ideal manga authors think everyone wants, so we'll never see it outside of gag romcoms.
I really hope story doesn't actually try to portray this whole thing as fluff shit after the truth is out (well entire premise doesn't make sense in the first place but still)
At this point, she is purposefully using his faceblindness to make him spill his feelings and giving herself a metaphorical pat on the back. If he just goes "oh it was my bad" after he learns, it is peak no stakes romcom slop of the highest order and deserves the lowest rating.
Personally I’m very aware of voices, so I can’t imagine I wouldn’t notice fairly soon once I had a conversation. And this dude talks to “both” pretty much daily. It’s a silent medium though so I can imagine that’s not really taken into account.
I think everyone is able to recognise voices of familiar people, that's an evolution skill. The shit in manga is absolute bs, but you have to kinda "buy it" to enjoy it
