Thanks for the TL.

So while I could point out the "just tell the truth damn it" like everyone else I'll touch on something else. "You're Mai's father" so unless I just completely forgot who this character is (completely plausible I'm very forgetful) this is someone new we haven't met before right. Is he meant to be the father of the pther girl who might have to do woth his friend's backstory? I remember that being a thing.

Or maybe I'm dumb and just forgot feel free to bonk me on the head if so

"now im a patient man, but even I wanted to put your head in a brown paper bag and bludgeon you to death with the blunt end of an ax"

everything else is great, it's a really nice series. they just might as well have made mc actually just blind

"Well bro, seems like you're feeling reasonably confident she likes you. Gonna fess up to her?"

"Neah I'd rather make a game out of seeing if she can pick up on it herself. Then I'll tell her how I feel. You know, after I've drawn the whole thing out long enough that I know that she knows, thereby defeating the purpose of telling her for any reason other than my own gratification."

Honestly? Both of them kinda suck. The dishonesty is obviously worse, but this behavior isn't much better.

"She probably hasn't noticed my feelings."

Man, if only humans as a species had some easy way of communicating those sorts of things? Like what if we could make sounds from our mouths that could transmit that information directly into other humans' brains via the ears? Wouldn't that be awesome and convenient.

Thanks for the chapter!
For everyone pointing out the absurdity of this manga I give you this:
"Suspension of disbelief is the avoidance—often described as willing—of critical thinking and logic in understanding something that is unreal or impossible in reality, such as something in a work of speculative fiction, in order to believe it for the sake of enjoying its narrative." - Wikipedia
The absurd premise helps make this manga good, at least I think. I'm just waiting for the 'straight man' character to appear and call them out for being completely and utterly oblivious.

TLDR to my yapping: neither originally knew who the other was until their feelings were (mostly) told to the other, so revealing the secret now would stunt or ruin their relationship.
I feel like a lot of people are forgetting their relationship at their job practically started with both of them telling each other their feelings for the other.
Both of them didn't really realize who each other was and while our MC is not the brightest tool in the shed i dont doubt that once he figures out her secret, he'll realize everything else.
I think if this was the other way around i believe he would do the same thing she's doing and be just as embarrassed, it would probably be worse if either admitted as soon as they knew because it would thrust them both into an uncomfortable relationship of barely knowing one another yet knowing they both have feelings for the other which, more likely then not, will end up hurting their relationship more then helping it (realistically speaking.)
Of course it will be horrible to keep this up forever and morally it would be best to reveal it the second she knew, but then their feelings are known and they'll have to talk about it, not to mention they're teenagers and teenagers will prioritize their feelings more then doing the logically best thing to do :nyoron: :nyoron: :nyoron:

with series like the Quintuplets i always wondered why MC wouldn't be able to differentiate the characters by hair color. in here, why can't he tell by height, expressions and moreover, by sound? love makes blind, but to this extent? xd
The books point out that she goes to great pains to disguise herself at work (glasses, hair, voice, even makeup designed to severely blunt her normal good looks). He does note more than once that the work girl reminds him in some ways of the school girl, but the differences are enough to prevent making the connection.

Oh come on, he's going the same route with "I'm going to make her notice"?
Well at least it's new to me, that a boys does it. Not that it makes it better or anything.

i wonder if he'll get mad when she finally reveals who she is
I don't think so, he will only be embarrassed. At least that's what I assume because of the characters act. He wants to do everything to make her happy and since this secret didn't harm anyone I don't see a too big problem with it. But I'm also curious how the reveal will play out.

I love the Clark Kent effect paired with a dense protagonist... Why I continue reading is beyond me XD

How is it possible for him to stand so close to her and still fail to recognize her

This is a light novel adaptation, right? You can pull that shit off in a light novel because there's no actual visualization, but when you put it in a visual medium like this, it just becomes OBVIOUSLY impossible

Nah. I've said it before, but the whole situation is so unrealistic that there's no way it would happen in RL. So, you can't also judge it in terms of what would happen realistically afterwards. I mean, if he was offended by Saitou keeping it a "secret" and humiliating him, shouldn't Saitou also be deeply insulted? She's supposedly the girl he loves, but he can't even recognise her if she dons glasses. You might as well say any girl who reads books is fine for him, then. So, no, I don't expect the author to make any drama out of it. Maybe a single chapter of embarrassment.

Actually I would disagree. The situation is hyperbolic, but the narrative of someone 'wing-maning' themselves like this is not new and can lead to interesting stories. I can't name the books off the top of my head, but there have been plenty of stories with this exact premise except the 'wingmaning' is happening via text. Actually I distinctly recall there even being an anime where this happens via an mmorpg. The main pair are party mates ingame but also classmates irl and the guy tells the girl about his experiences in the classroom during their ingame chats and she knows he is talking about her, but is keeping it a secret.

In these stories, it 'blowing over' IS a very powerful moment and something the deceiver had coming for them. If this mangaka took things seriously, this entire relationship is actually doomed to fail - this degree of manipulation would lead to the MC losing completely all trust in her beyond all repair once he finds out. But since the mangaka is cutsey and this entire premise is mostly used for gags, I doubt it will go badly as well. We already had an example of how this author handles drama already - the bullies and the broken bookmark. That stuff got resolved in the most silly way without any 'real conclusion'. This author can't do drama. They just do comedy and 'cute girl does cute faces'.

The more realistic you make it, that is, if it's only happening in text or in a game, the more realistic drama you can draw out of it afterwards. Of course it's not like this author couldn't try to do it, but it wouldn't look any good. Suspension of disbelief would be nigh impossible. Especially since like you said, drama might not be this author's forte. However, do we have any reason to believe the author doesn't know all of this? I'd rather think they know. So, the continuation ought to be something fitting.

Other than that, if I asked myself would I care, I wouldn't. At least not know. Maybe I'd have back in high school, being young and stupid. Now I'd just laugh it off. In the end there was no ill intention and it did bring them together. You need to meet your partner one way or another. Does it matter how if the end is well?
