OK, for a moment the author made me think that maybe they were able to avoid the bad ending even if the start of the chapter felt really ominous, and then we got this.
Regardless if it's real or just some dream, I know have confirmation this author's works aren't for me.

I agree. If I knew beforehand, I would have avoided this.
There are indeed arguments for tags.
At times, I've thought that sort of thing is stifling for culture, as well as pandering to some sort of weak-ass way of life where you avoid the dark sides of life.
But a few times, I've seen works of art/culture, where I feel like the creator is just spewing out crap to hurt those who read/see the art. (There's the manga which starts out like a cute slice of life middle school romantic story, but at some point suddenly turns into NTR, prostitution, porn, and mental torture - all with tags, but NO tags reflecting the REAL content. There are also some classic novels (French) depicting really nasty stuff. Let's not go there.) That sort of thing does not teach us anything useful. And that is where tags do come in as a good thing.
Oh well.
Sorry for taking up your time. I just wanted to share my commiseration, and show you you're not alone in your reaction.
