His reaction pretty makes sense, though with all the years of Hanabi's manipulation towards him? He would definitely change his attitude towards her once he learns that she's selling off her body, because she was being blackmailed using that video.
Ok his reaction does not make sense plus he doesn't know she spelled herself off because of the blackmail and that would make his reaction even worse and make him a way worse person for disregarding the thing that she ended up selling herself off for all those years you say that wasn't manipulation he allowed that to happen he did not talk to her or do anything to defend himself he hasn't changed one bit I could clearly see that and that can also be pieced apart in the text even when they were dating he never really cared about multiple things he just used that so called trauma as a reason to play the victim card when their is clearly no trauma at all.

The sales dropped, because of how fucked up the story become probably even its loyal readers avoided it too, because even if you hate Hanabi to the core and we all know she deserves any punishment she got... I mean losing the person you're obsessesing with since childhood already dealt a huge blow on her + she even fell on a cliff and dislocated her leg and was hospitalized. She already pretty much received enough punishment... but making her into a prostitute from a blackmail is crossing the line and way too brutal for a punishment. All the wrong doings she's done to the MC doesn't warrant that kind of treatment at all.

The only way i could think of to salvage this story is reconciliation with MC and Hanabi... Also revealing that she hasn't crossed that line yet... yeah i'm talking about s*xual intercourse.
Bro for the most part I agree.

"sorry you sold yourself for no reason over something i didn't even care about"
Hanabi suffering for no reason because she didn't consult with the actual person in question
Like MC pointed, she tried to be the big girl and "solve the problem", all this ark should have been an e-mail if she was not trying too hard to be the main character again in a "good way" now.

The phone call was about "rough" stuff, not just "stuff". She's been getting raped over this past month of rom-com. But the festival meant too many people were going to be at the park, and the client/s wanted to "slap" her and the like. Based on the tone, it seems like the author doesn't think these developments are particularly serious and is entirely warranted.
🧐

Just like the FL's actions have really degraded her character, this chapter has really not done the ML any favors. His indifference toward her seems a little too unempathetic. However, I do think it's at least partially because he doesn't know the full extent of what's happened. Still, none of these three characters have been particularly well-written, with the FL being very sullied by these events.
Supposedly he ends up beating up the pimp. So I'm imaging he finds out what's really happened and that causes him to show some emotion.
👾

I would hope Souma shows some level of care in the future, like I get he has good reason not to trust Hanabi but I would like to think he is going to get mad when he finds out what Hanabi has been forced to do.

It might be a longshot but I hope they go back to being friends in the end after Hanabi has mentally healed.

Pardon, but just what is it in that conversation that makes you think he hasn't been making her do the real deal? The fact that he said he didn't want to get caught and "making her do guys in a public restroom" would be bad? Pretty sure that's just about the change of venue due to the fact that there's a festival going on and lots of places are crowded. Thus, while they normally do whatever they want to her in a park restroom that's pretty much never used, the presence of huge crowds in the general area make it necessary to find a hotel, and a good one away from the crowds, thus the increase in cost. So no, I for one am not buying this "just handjobs and blowjobs" thing. All the more so with the way she looked and acted when she came out of that restroom, and the look of her clothes, wrinkled and buttoned wrong and with semen stains on the skirt... if the author really is going to try to say she's still a virgin then he's pushing it even more than most authors that pull that kind of BS. Also, if you know her other works, she's really not shy about having characters raped.
Has the author done any dark stories outside of that dark hero one?
🤨

The increase in cost and privacy of a hotel room leads to the client(s) saying they want to be "rougher". The pimp's statements don't seem to indicate any resistance to anything outside of murder. So I don't understand why someone would think the pimp's been restraining themselves this entire month.
He personally has taken the CHF to hotels as well.
🧐

I could understand the confusion because of how the characters, particularly the CHF, is acting. It doesn't seem like she's a teenager virgin who has been gangraped for a month. But I think it's obviously just a bad author.

Ok, first off the main character didn't even want to talk to her and she was already grieving you can't expect her to just email him that's not something any normal person who's clearly mentally messed up and she is not trying to be the main character she is A main character and she is the sole focus for most of the story.

This chapter is literally MC saying out loud that he couldn't care less about what happened to Hanabi or what she does or thinks as the only reason he intervened was because this dumb hoe actions were pulling Megane-chan into her drama.

If anything, I'm actually glad that he's seemingly not opening any door that could lead to reconcialition.
Bro I'm gonna put it simply like this for one Hanabi is not a hoe for two him leaving no door for reconciliation is what's stopping his character development he can't change at all if he doesn't leave a door for him to walk through that's going backwards not forwards though you have a special taste when it comes to stories it seems because he's being unreasonable and manipulative in my perspective. The narrative seems like it is following that to.

Honestly, I've pretty much only read three, specifically this one, the aforementioned valiant attempt to make Redo of Healer look tame, and my favorite Adventurer-turned-Daddy. All three have sexual violence with no attempts to conceal what's being done.

And yeah, just as you said, the only request by the client was if he could slap her around and get rough, and Kirigaya's response of "just don't kill her" suggests that "rougher than what I've been doing" would be pretty darn rough.

But yeah I don't know if I'd say she's a bad author, but she does occasionally add in things that really aren't necessary. There are some good points to this sort of thing here. It shows Hanabi's true contrition by demonstrating that she'd be willing to submit to even this level of degradation. It also provides a good final lesson to her, showing this girl who no longer wants to be the center of the world but still thinks she is that no, her actions past and present cannot crush what really matters to Souma, and she can stop trying to erase herself entirely from fear of hurting him further. That said, with the contents of the story up to this point this was too intense, too out of place, and didn't really have the necessary foundations to deal properly with such weighty subject matter. It's a common problem, even the author of SAO admits to having fallen hard into that pit for a long while.

Overall, I'd say this story should have ended sooner is all. It could perhaps have ended with one more encounter after Hanabi's accident, with her struggling to bow with her broken leg and apologize, and him accepting, telling her that he's not holding any serious grudge, he just wants to move on from her and she should do the same. Better to just give the story a quick conclusion at the point he got a new girlfriend rather than drag it until its rep is completely ruined.

As far as the people insisting she might actually still be a virgin, yeah I kind of suspect this is just the sort of people that try to find some way to deny any defloration they see. Got the same issue in "Miya-chan's Succing Life". Heck, I'm kind of surprised there aren't people trying to insist Sasha might have been a virgin until her first time with her "Master".

I don't think she's a bad author because she added "things that really aren't necessary." It's how she writes them. Go back and look at when the gangrape arc began. The tonal whiplash from chapter to chapter was so jarring.
Then there's the issue of destroying the FL's character. She spent an entire month "investigating", but the author shows us what she was doing: generic rom-com stuff. She was more concerned with the ML's usage of the title girlfriend than with what was happening with the CHF. You can't run a generic rom-com plot simultaneously with a gangrape plot. It taints the entire series.

When I said unnecessary I meant both stuff that didn’t fit and stuff that detracts from the rest of the story. This did both. Something this serious given this much presence makes it hard to handle the cute romcom antics, and while there’s been bad stuff up to now, sexual stuff was not present. There wasn’t any suggestion of Hanabi’s harassment reaching the level of potentially sexual degradation (like videos of him being forced to strip), or of any kind of sexual activity. Sex could fit in this story, but not like this, and while it is possible to successfully mix and balance dramatic sexual violence and romantic comedy, that does seem to be one talent this author lacks.

There were definitely other ways to show Hanabi’s contrition and having her grow to the point where she can properly apologize and separate. There are points in these parts I can take interest in, but the story really didn’t need to go there.

Im starting to think the author is misogynistic or something. The absolute nonsensical drama, almost all the girl dude encountered is manipulative except for FL, and these manipulative girls somehow want to ride MC's dick despite him lowkey being random person in their life. Like seriously tf is this

This is Acceptable in my book though I am not the one your debating with you didn't really criticize Hanabi so I won't debate. Though I agree with you 100%.

To be honest I can't say he's not random so I won't debate with you on that point. But I will debate on the Manipulative point of view for one Hanabi did everything she did out of love but the thing with it is that Souma let it happen he said nothing about it HE DIDN'T EVEN CARE. The thing is a character who never cared in the first place is just riding trauma he never went through nor cared about he has not grown. Though the writing part I can't say much well I just don't wanna.

But he did care. It showed pretty early on that he wasn't "just taking it" or "letting it happen" because he wasn't bothered by it. He was afraid, and hurt, and before he could build the courage to stand up for himself she'd eroded his self-esteem to such a point that he just believed everything she said and went along with this idea that he was trash and she was the only one who would ever even tolerate him so he better not push her away too. Frankly, he probably would have continued to just gone along with this for years if she hadn't taken her abuse to such life-threatening levels. The only reason she lost him is she raised the abuse far enough that being alone, destitute and overall miserable still seemed less painful than enduring her "love" any longer. He wasn't "riding trauma he never went through", he went through a ton of trauma, it just got so bad that he didn't believe he could or deserved to fight back.

I won't deny that Hanabi was acting out of love, but it wasn't a pure, kind love. She wasn't taking care of someone she thought no one would care for besides her, or protecting him because he really couldn't survive without her. She was so insecure and jealous and self-centered that she couldn't bear him having anyone else or recognizing that he was worth something without her. That twisted, possessive "love" that needed him to stay pathetic and inferior and entirely dependent is what broke him, and is also the reason she lost him. If from a young age she'd tried to lift him up and had some faith that he'd respond to her feelings and to her desire to stay together, things might have actually worked out for her. But she instead let herself reach a point where his feelings didn't matter as long as he was there and couldn't leave, where she'd actually feel joy and pride forcing him to take his clothes off while she recorded his humiliation.

I don't think Hanabi deserved any of this, like I said there were other ways to make her realize that her existence didn't carry that kind of weight. But that doesn't mean that she was a complete innocent or that Souma was in any way in the wrong here.

Well, that solve most of the problem, now you just need to get the girl from work arrested for drugging a minor, and help your buddy to cut ties with that annoying girl who dropped him for other guy then went back.
Yeah I hope she is dealt with too but that might be more complicated especially if she has done this many times and got recorded evidence or stuff of there's as insurances, for example their boss

I'm still not sure why i'm reading this trainwreck. It has a worse plotline than most hentai but without any of the actual erotic parts.
It seemed like part of the train wreck was going to be resolved but now they just continue on with something else much to the same it's rental girlfriend all over again or should I say rent a hoe

To be honest as much as I want to say your wrong you are right but I meant what I said I will defend Hanabi till the end, though what you said is true take into account that he gave her time to experiment and push his boundaries when they were kids as wrong as that may be you got to take into account that kids don't just listen to other kids you could argue that Souma is "is not like other kids" but really that doesn't make a difference in the end the thing that started all of this is him basically giving her time to experiment but at the same time Souma and Hanabi both equally lived their own versions of hell just for Souma to break up with Hanabi.

No, I won't accept how this story is put out around Chapter 30 Souma completely changes the subject when it was on Hanabi he dodged everything in that conversation you say he started believing everything she said alright but at the same time him admitting that then switching up makes absolutely no sense and I will not respect what ever that sexual plot was what they did to Hanabi and she was being threatened by some freaking videos of SOUMA then come to realize he just doesn't care then he gives a weirdly cliche speech I will never respect that.

The, thing I'm trying to get across is Souma is also in the wrong here because he could have told his mother he had so much time to stop all this we don't even know how long they have been dating and in all those times he could have changed things but you claim he started to believe everything she said well wrong because he broke up with her and time and time again he keeps proving he didn't believe what she said he talking about he won't let her take center stage again DONT FRICK WITH ME SHE IS FREAKING GROVELLING BECAUSE SHE WANTS TO APOLOGIZE SHES FREAKING GRIEVING she has been grieving for the longest and I am genuinely tired of it she does not deserve to go through all this just give her, her peace and let her live her life without grief or any of this is going to far.
