Another name for this manga could be "How my nerdy self-insert got a hunky boyfriend who really appreciates her on the rebound from a bad breakup" and I am so here for it.

Regardless on the realism / unrealism of the events that happened in basically the immediate aftermath of that breakup, it can't be denied that was one hell of an unhealthy (toxic even) relationship that he had been in for far, far too long; and it can't be understated how much better off he is for finally getting out of it.

I don't know why I expected to see the result of the race right in this chapter. Of course it's going to take at least one more.

Because you know it would give a payout of endorphins to see it in a triumphant conclusion all in one take. Heck, I could even draw a parallel to Ishigami's relay race; and while he did place second there, Aka Akasaka gave him an even greater victory after the finish line.

The difference here is that there seems to be a much larger weight on the finish because there isn't an identical or similar satisfying conclusion to fall back on if he doesn't place first.

Nah, in the source material, she only was going for everybody around him, but him directly. Dunno about later chapters, it's been a while.

I'm guessing it's drawn out so next chapter we get the end of the race and the fallout from it in 1 chapter otherwise we'd have this chapter the race is won then the next chapter has to stretch out the fallout.

The only way I could make sense of it in my head was that it's a relatively small track loop, so each runner runs it once, and the next person goes out in place for the hand off at their turn.

Otherwise there's nothing about it that makes sense in terms of how a relay race actually happens.

This is how I imagined it because it's a school running marathon. We're not watching reading the Olympics, they're just standing close by the track.

Why are they standing at the side even though they're participants of the relay race? Wouldn't they normally have a designated spot to wait for the baton and be ready to run from there?

Cause the author is entirely unfamiliar with how running as a concept works. In the first place there's absolutely no way the MC could be the fast as he is, but everything for the sake of making him absolutely perfect.

The Light Novel translation seems to be a lot darker than this manga (no surprise), and a lot more visceral. I haven't gotten to the parts that correspond to the MC being recruited for the T&F team, so that should be interesting to compare.
