Nah, I disagree... I think the current drama is a bit overdone and forced, but I think with good writing, this story could keep running. I always want to see stories progress past the initial arc. I want to see real life progress outside of the usual tropes and clichés, but so few Japanese authors seem able to pull it off, or maybe the domestic market doesn't have the same appetite as me, but I will always push to see more stories with the same characters. Fingers crossed.

Do you/anybody have any manga recommendations that handles drama well? Seems like a tricky thing to balance between too much melodrama vs a boring plot, to make characters act believably consistent (and have satisfying agency) yet not be too predictable.

I'm not the best person to ask. I don't like drama. I read manga to soothe the soul, in the same way, I don't watch the news, the real world is messed up enough, I don't want to devour drama for my entertainment too. I just like slop like The Angel Next Door Spoils me Rotten, which is as drama free as you can get. Give me comedy, romcom and fluff.
