I’ve got some pretty irreconcilable mixed feelings about this manga. On one hand, I love how the characters actually talk to clear up misunderstandings, and the conflicts feel grounded. Even the antagonists have understandable (though still unacceptable) motivations. That’s a refreshing change compared to another manga in the same begone-o-thotty-ex genre, Anta to Osananajimitte dake demo Iyananoni! ~Zekkou kara Hajimaru S-kyuu Bishoujo to no Gakuen Nariagari Seikatsu~ (seriously, hasn’t anyone come up with short titles for them yet?!). That one sure did unabashedly crank up to 11 the ex's thottness, the heroines' hotness, and the MC's OPness. Whereas here the MC is only slightly Gary Stu and is much more down to earth. I especially liked the explanation he gave a few chapters back for his chronic low self-esteem.

On the flip side though, both the MC and FMC’s down-to-earthness sometimes slip into straight-up blandness. Their plain character designs don’t help either, making them feel even more like background characters. No matter how many NPCs swoon over the MC Rent-a-GF style, I just ain’t feelin’ it, bruh. It’s especially odd for the FMC, since other girls in the series are clearly drawn prettier, so it's not likely a skill issue on the part of the mangaka. Maybe that’s intentional - like the mangaka wants to emphasize that the MC fell for her personality rather than her looks - or maybe it’s just me not finding her attractive enough. Either way, it feels off. That other manga at least had a better-looking MC and heroines.

So yeah, I’m stuck in this weird in-between where I can’t decide if this series is a yay or a nay. It’s not like the other manga I’ve read have all been clean-cut golden or trash, but I don’t recall having such jarring whiplash of reactions before. I’ll keep reading though, coz substance-wise, it is still pretty engaging. Btw thanks to the scanlators, solid work there, no complaints on your part.

On Page 6 of Chapter 44, why is Fumi the only normal girl in the story? Don't get me wrong, I'm not against it, but why is every other girl either toxic, or just a pick-me?

This manga is so cringe, a whole fuckin chapter of talking about our feelings. Idek who that character is, he's just randomly become important. Dropped.
"Oh no, the manga about dealing with toxic interpersonal relationships has a chapter devoted to characters discussing their feelings about a toxic interpersonal relationship, how awful."

Also, Hasuike has been present as part of the main cast since pretty early on. I think he first showed up when the MC was getting involved with the track team.
He didn't "randomly become important", you just weren't paying attention to the story you were reading. That's on you.

I don't care for some of the shading the author uses. On the last page it looks like Hanabi has a facial scar since it appears both at the top left (barely in panel) and main panels. But here and here she obviously doesn't. So unless she got it after that it is just confusing and caused me to waste time scanning chapters to see if I missed putting in my notes. If this is a reveal of a new scar then I retract this statement.

You'd have to be blind deaf and mute to not have picked up the fact that those two were dating after that conversation
Still it's weird for them to not inform him straight and clear. Also, it's probably a matter of courtesy, given how the three of them are good friends
Well, for starter hasuike is the one who pushed him to confess, and after that conversation he must've picked up enough hints to know the result.
the guy even put himself up as a sacrifical doormat to keep the thot away from them due to how she'll wreak havoc to their relationship progress.

And now that they're officially dating, the story gonna move towards ntr attempts ig

Missed this til now, but I think it's important to remember Japanese culture actively discourages being straight and clear in communication. It's so expected for you to read between the lines that it's built into the language itself
