This is all just conjecture, but someone on Reddit pointed out last chapter that this series being at the (nearly) very bottom of the table of contents in its magazine for like 5 weeks now (this week included) might point to it having been axed. If that's the case, then presumably it'd end with volume 4, since there are already enough chapters out for volume 3, and it clearly hasn't ended yet. That would put the final chapter somewhere around 46-50.

Actually, good move for MC to start thinking about this properly.
If I were to choose, Hinaki is still the best choice but Hinaki is still on that stage of "can't be bothered with such feelings" so she will reject any notion of it.
Koiwai is still pretty much a stranger and pretty much a red flag because she herself is like a female version of the MC and is also undecided herself.

It does seem to be heading to a conclusion all of a sudden so I would not be surprised.

Hopefully it isn't a "And their journey carried on" ending where we the viewers don't get to see how their issues are resolved, and are left to just imagine what would have been the real ending.

One would imagine yes. It would probably require clear communication between both parties, and you better hope jealousy isn't a trait and being trusting is. The less people in the friend group, arguably would make it more difficult, whereas if you had MORE friends of both genders, it would most likely make someone less suspicious.

One of the key things though is the "special place". Being treated special, not in an otherwise romantic light, but simply not being labeled as an associate/friend. If you're in a relationship, you're meant to see the other as the one first before others, USUALLY.

In a way.
He didn't know how to handle that emotion. But he would then feel guilty of it when he related it to how other guys look at his girl best friend lewdly. It didn't help that he was already trying to avoid getting romantic with Kiyoka.

Excuse me but, this chapter was hot garbage for me, kyouka did the most random teasing ever to annoy the readers while also literally saying "you shouldn't be friends with hinaki if you fall in love with me" which is an extremely toxic relationship goals
Literally nothing happened to justify this behaviour and hinaki was the one who helped both of them out

And shunsuke as usual is completely stupid, the girl literally implied she has interest in loving him and he walks out thinking not a single goddamn thing happened

And people wonder why the kyouka x hinaki chapters are more enjoyable, because i don't have to read stupid dialogue or monologue
