First, the manga starts with the suicide, but that's not revealed until far later. It's an interesting change, for sure. It recontextualizes a lot of the early story.
"Is it a harem"; depends on definition. There are multiple girls who are very interested in her, but it is quickly obvious who is end game. But if you enjoy tropes of the genre you'll see some of it.
"I feel sorry for him", doofus, the name I used when explaining the story to my wife, is kinda trash. Near incel. He's a problem. Yeah, he's not malicious, but he never learns.
"She's got no character" it's on purpose; it's both commentary and plot relevant.
"Isn't it hypocritical..." yes. At times, MC will be much like doofus. I think this is intentional. Irony, perhaps. Unless you mean Riri, who seems to not respect consent, yet is rescued from her own harassment. This doesn't ruin things for me but I'm frustrated that it feels the author wasn't aware? Consent is going to be played with fast and loose... and not how you expect. Just uh... something to chew on.
