So I found a post by the artists Fanbox that goes over some of it based on what I was able to glimpse through DeepL, and I guess it got canned by the publishers. But they will allow it to continue as a doujin. So Shirainu and the author have decided that they will do that, but it means they'll have to redo everything basically.

Bottom line, it will continue but as a new series sort of.
