With someone else’s comment above, it did make me think Maki could possibly feel like she couldn’t kill the white cat (she literally essentially died to save it) AND maybe feels that Ichika wouldn’t care if Maki disappeared. Ichika betrayed Maki, not showing up when Maki was supposed to move away and purposely lied about being sick. So in the case that Maki is less worried about her own survival and life because she feels that she’s not important to Ichika, then perhaps the white cat can be more honest.

I was riiiiight. It’s like a feeling of spite and also resignation because Ichika clearly meant so much that the betrayal was so bad. Good thing Ichika didn’t go blaming anyone else for her actions. She’s the only one to blame for running away, not even being upset about the move and not even just fighting for the friendship before. To me that’s definitely betrayal, I drop people for that too. Like fine. You can’t do anything, but at least show me you cared at all. Fight a little bit even when it’s fruitless.
