I’m not sensing an axe, but the last few pages were straight up jaw dropping and evoked the biggest reaction from me when reading a manga in a LONG time.
Extreme whiplash in contrast to the tone of the previous pages, feeling more like horror

Well, wasn't expecting a retcon/contradiction to page 2/3 of chapter 1 that showed EIGHT karin's. If it's safe to assume the entire class is just karin and MC then that's like 25+ Karin's

I'll be honest, I wouldn't call having more characters than a colour splash page to be a retcon.

Hmmmm. Yeah I don't know how to feel. I'm seeing "it could he getting axed" and what not so I hope that isn't the case.

I do think it's possible the author did this to keep the formula from becoming stale. While the "new girl + arc" works with 100 girlfriends, that one also is largely a comedy. This one mostly takes itself seriously with how the protagonist wishes to love "all of karen."
