What I want to know is, did the charm straight up kill off the original?

Like, clearly there was originally one girl. She was split up, and now the pieces have her memories.

But, like, that's not compatible. If the charm edited history to make 2 new families/histories for them, then they should all remember there being 2 girls.

But if it split them after she finished her summer with Yuu, then both girls and their families would have gaping holes in their history before that point.

Anyway it seems like fun.
100% Theres also the creepy perspective that even if it's just the same girl but split into many personalities it's still not the original version of her and if they all merge and become one well MC loses them too. I also perceive the entire situation as a desperate cope by a MC that has been utterly tricked, betrayed, fooled by a supernatural being and he has to live with that no matter what because he promised but he already kinda lost his beloved forever or risks losing them all forever or author makes an asspull and brings the original one intact with all the others at the same time. Fun? Brother my head hurts and I'm feeling melancolic. 🙂

Last bit of complaint here. This entire ordeal feels like MC is "forced" to love them all because he desperately clings to any leftover part of his childhood friend which feels a bit like how 100 girlfriends MC is forced to love them all because otherwise they will literally die. It's not that wholesome at all they're both in genuinely terrifying and desperate situations with "hardcoded" constraints to their life decisions due to some BS supernatural asspull because the authors said so. If you guys can give me genuine not stupidly large or "plot requires it" harem romcom suggestions I will take them gladly because I am desperate rn. I remember being disappointed reading Maga-Tsuki because their relationship was toxic and abusive as hell so please no BS like that either.

I got a suggestion, hope you take it, is also from someone who wanted to read Maga-Tsuki but hated the antics of an harem that can't help but be abusive to each other.

Messenger of the Sea
pros:
  1. is finished
  2. I'd say no filler arc, but being able to read it in one go is hard for me to tell if something went on for too long (7 years)
  3. great girls, none of the characters has to go in a stockholme syndrome, when there is love, it feels genuine.
  4. No misunderstandings to slow things down, nothing that throws progress back.
  5. the girls compete against each other, but never actually stab one another in the back so there is great harmony and respect for boundaries.
  6. the island is a character on its own and I love the little window on nature that the art often presents and how it looks
  7. I like how they are proactive with one another, all of them are shy, the protagonist doesn't pretend to be deaf, is not quite a pushover, he does need to be persuaded at times but is not a coward either.
  8. I like how progress matter, I have seen romances where progress exists only when a milestone is reached but it never seems like a couple has gotten closer.
  9. I am happy with the ending, I'd like to see even more, I think there is quite a bit that could have been done, but it ends farther than a lot of other Manga do.

Thank you so much I think I had it bookmarked but never actually read it because I keep adding too many stories that end up disappointing me lmao. This looks promising!

Let me know what you think of it (you can just write it in the series's comment section and quote me) once you are done, I tried to hold myself back but still read it in 2 days, but I still re-read multiple chapters of it and sometimes even entire arcs.
