Cheap? He's Makita. You'd think cheap food was the least of his worries. This is exceedingly strange. I'm sure his parents could place a lot of expectations on him and demand a lot from him, but at the same time, logically they would make sure he's always eating high quality food, to keep him healthy and ensure proper development. It makes no sense he'd only eat bread.
