The weird thing is that his underlings thought they could only be controlled by their parent and Victor was able to control them.

I wonder if there are different ruling families, not directly related to each other. Like if we have Dracula, we could also have a family ruled by Carmilla, who predates Dracula (as does Ruthven, from the first vampire novel). Or maybe there's a Japanese vampire family.

Perhaps this is linked to the whole saliva thing mentioned a few chapters ago? Hina doesn't affect him because her dad salivated on him?
