This seems like kind of a shallow take. All of our relationships are made up by the sum of our actions and interactions with others. Yes with those very close it may be that major ruptures can be repaired eventually, particularly with family, but that doesn't mean the hurt of a fight or whatever simply vanishes and is forgotten. It still is there as part of the overall mix forever. And it takes work to maintain, let alone repair, relationships, it doesn't just happen by itself. Just because someone is able to eventually mend things doesn't somehow mean that if they hadn't bothered it all would have gotten better, the journey still matters and is a necessity to the outcome. There isn't ever a "reset", there is only deciding that the positives outweigh the negatives.Ruby being angry with aqua is a total nothingburger cause whatever their current relationship is like will basically reset whenever they finally decide to reveal who they were before.
Like yeah no shit she wont stay angry with him forever but I cant take this situation seriously knowing it absolutely will change.

I feel like this applies if you treat it as a living, breathing, set of relationships. But if you un-immerse yourself from the story for a bit and recognize that it is purely contrived (being a story and all), I gotta agree with OP. Basically the author just loaded up one of what I consider the cheapest contrivances available - a massive plot device reveal that could just shift the direction of the story in one go. And to top it all off, he stalled it at the very beginning, meaning that when the reveal does happen, I don't even think it'll feel cathartic, just... "finally".This seems like kind of a shallow take. All of our relationships are made up by the sum of our actions and interactions with others. In this case in particular as well you're putting way too much on a fairly minimal previous relationship. In Ruby's current mental state it might even be harmful if she found out, she could easily decide that Goro was also a liar before and feel even more betrayed. I agree that, based on chapter 1, we know the outcome here is going to be some sort of reconciliation and hopefully somewhat positive outcome to their journey, but the form it takes and how we get there is unknown. Not just between them but what friends and coworkers they hurt or help along the way, what doors open or close. That's the entire story.
Nah man you completely forgot the flash forward at the start that showed them quite a bit older being interviewed for some kind of AI documentary. This seems like kind of a shallow take.
