It’s nice that the relationship between her and Aqua is also strangely close, probably because she’s easy to talk to.

If you think about it, they have some interesting things in common once you take into account that Aqua is the reborn doctor. To some degree, he too is an "adult pretending to be a kid" and "someone from outside who found themselves in the acting world". All these different characters have interesting overlapping and disjoint pieces of themselves and their lives, but Mem shares in that respect while also (unlike Ruby) still being an outsider not someone he's got massive deep personal history with. She's still part of the same circles and conversations as the other girls, but end of the day she is in fact significantly older. She also was "self-made" before all of this.
