what if Aka intentionally let the shipping end on such an unsatisfactory note so He could shift the blame for the ending onto people malding over the shipping war.? lol, such a 4D chess move, frfr...

Yeah I'm saying that I also think that there should have been more addresses to other characters. With the exceptions of Ruby, Aqua, and Ai, none of the characters got true send-offs. Kana overcame her sadness, understanding that Aqua would want her to work harder and be better, and then she pushed those same ideas onto Mem-cho. Akane understood everything Aqua had done, but that couldn't help her and she still felt pained by his death. However, thanks to Aqua, she no longer lacks self-esteem and is not suicidal, and thus goes on. Essentially every character was saved by Aqua so his death wasn't in vain. Although I think these things are neat, I would've like some. more pages about their stories.

"Everyone moved on" isn't a proper ending, but that's not what this is. Ruby didn't move on, Aqua and Ai became her motivators. That's the point of the lie. She is constantly thinking about them and what she's lost, but she knows that giving up would mean desecrating their memory, so she lives on how she knows the others would want her to. Kana, Akane, Mem-cho, and essentially everyone else had this same reaction. Ruby isn't alone in the fact that she lies about her feelings towards Aqua's death, all of the others are the same way. You can tell by the panel when Kana breaks down mid-acting. No one moved on, they just use Aqua as a motivator and thus lie about their feelings to go on in the world
i think you misunderstood what i meant by moved on, moving on doesn't mean you get over something big happening in your life, whether it's good or bad, i meant it literally, they just moved on, and yes, it isn't a proper ending, which i've been saying from the start as i said, there's no proper closure other than Ruby turning like her mother, Ai

also, you don't need to write that long paragraph to show what aka imply with other characters, i can tell as well without someone pointing it out, but i still don't like how this is aka doing this and we still don't know what other character actually think

The ending was so unsatisfying for a story with so many cast of characters, the side characters only get a couple of dialogue-less panels as their epilogue, some are even completely forgotten like Ruby's manager and his vtuber sister who was supposed to become a new B-Komachi member to replace Kana.

so only only the ending as a whole shits on everything the story tries so hard to portray!!! but this ONE bloody chapter!!! COMPLEATLY makes Ruby to be MIRROR copy of her FICKING MOTHER!!! HOW IS that INSPIERING???

what the fuck was the whole point of the god damn story? ahd the PROGRESS??? way the fuck did we see them BOTH get better and ALMOST overcome this all??? WAY ? fuck off Aka!!! your ending is garbage
She isn't a mirror copy of her mother, she understands the use of lies. Ai lied because she was stupid and naive. Ruby lies for the sake of others and for the memory of her mother and brother. Even though it looks like they're doing the same thing they're really not. Ruby is basically a better version of her mother, one that isn't hampered by childishness.

i guess if i had to do a tl;dr review -

these characters deserve so much better than this plot.

it was a treat to see mengo's art at the top of the charts for a while and for all its narrative missteps, it was definitely captivating at times.

all those buffons saying this ending is ass simply because it didn't end how they wanted.

Anyone that takes offense to this comment will know they are concerned, if you didn't like the ending but have a genuine reason for it, then you aren't who I am talking about.

Like seriously, if you expected a happy ending, its time to fucking wake up and ask yourself what this story was even about to begin with, it's been years since it was obvious that it would end REALLY sadly

edit : btw all of those who gave bad reactions proved that they felt concerned despite how specific I was being

People are just mad they didn't get a cookie-cutter happy ending from a show that OBVIOUSLY would not have a happy ending. The first three characters they introduce all instantly die. No way anyone was expecting anything other than a main character dying
i think most people who read this weren’t expecting a everyone wins ending. but this is a shitty ending. there are countless sad endings done well. this is shitty stop coping

Well it's been. One hell of a ride friends... but like most mangas/animes recently the endings kinda leave much to be desired... here's to oshi no ko and hope we find a another interesting manga/anime to fill the void.

Hopefully they'll let Aka remake ib and give it the end he wanted all along, maybe that will help him work out his issues with ending series (except Kaguya, I liked its ending).

Can't even look forward to the anime anymore because I know everything amounts to a disappointment. I don't mind Aqua staying dead, but this just doesn't feel satisfying at all
me when a story is less interesting when i know what happens

Uhhh mixed feelings. Pretty anticlimactic. And doesn't this just mean Ruby went down the same road as Ai, living a life of telling lies. Let's just hope it won't come back to bite her. :worry:

I think those final sneak 'n peeks into the characters' lives being rather ambiguous and uneventful didn't help either. Here's what I'm thinking but maybe that's just me trying to read too much into things:
  • Looks like Mem was about to take a break (potentially quit?) but Kana convinced her otherwise
  • The og b-Komachi new members reconciled
  • Frill and Minami were happy when Rubi returned to school(?)
  • Mel is running (rip bozo)
  • Kana seems to have resumed her supportive stance (at least she's supporting B-Komachi new/Ruby from behind the scenes) while being mentally scarred
  • Their step brother (did Ruby ever figure this out when the movie should've made it pretty obvious) came to terms with his parents'/mothers' past(?)
  • Miyako returned to her job/overcame the grief
  • B Komachi new found a replacement for Kana and made it big
  • Akane got slightly twisted (or rather, it is showing)
  • For me, the most interesting part: looks like the director finally moved out (going by the sparse furnishing).
Was the academy's "best" award for best actor and he received it on behalf of Aqua or best director though.
To sum things up, a lot of things going on but all of them pretty much what you'd have expected. It probably would've been better to label these past few chapters epilogue as to contain the readers' expectations...
