What "trap of her mother" Aqua put on Ruby are you talking about? That they lie? I already type on how lies are essential to what OnK presented as entertainment industry, so I don't think it's that but I'm not sure what.

Yes, traumas and pain exist, I don't think the manga ever denies that. Maybe there will be a time where Ruby breaks down and cry due to piling the stress up similar to Akane, or maybe the lie is she and people in general need to continue on despite their sadness because the world doesn't grind to a halt just because you're sad. The first step is getting back up. Doing your best to reach your goal is just a general way of life.
All this time, Ruby's main goal was to become not un idol than her mother, since Ai's happiness was fake despite her sincere attempts to help people. I don’t need arguments at the level of “a more acceptable or better lie,” this is an attempt to reassure myself, to find a more reassuring justification.

The same thing with injury. The manga itself admits that Ruby's happiness is artificial, since Aqua's death caused her new trauma and she is forced to lie about her happiness like her mother did in her time.

I still don't get why Aqua had to die to not have Ruby be "the sister of a murderer". He stabbed Hikaru on a cliff overlooking the damn ocean, at night. Fucker couldn't put some gloves on and burn his clothes after? And on a different note, how the hell was his body so pristine looking for the funeral? He seriously just washed up on shore and was found that fast? Also, this is the first manga I've read to introduce a God into the main plot, even going as far as talking to the main characters and then having them do NOTHING! How the hell does someone even write that?!

Hahaha, this is like that time I got so discombobulated by GoT's last season that eventually I forgot everything about the series itself. The difference this time is, my disappointment was fully unraveled after less than a minute of reading this garbage finale. I can't wait to forget this manga exists in record time.

i guess the author haven't watched breaking bad yet. Bro could just dissolve the father body in a barrel of strong acid and be done with it. So much for "smart" character aqua is lmao

Last one time - shit's so ass
Please Aka, don't ever create anything again. You have no idea how to end your stories.
"Loses sensei once, becomes an emotional wreck, loses sensei a second time, moves on within a calendar year".

Edit: I LOVE how SHUEISHA is deleting comments in english section, that weren't positive or neutral about ending. Even the slightest negative feedback resulted in the comment being deleted - and in the first few minutes, several such comments (not vulgar) appeared and had 300+ likes. Comments like "this is not a bad end you drama queens" are even funnier when all the comments they were referring to have been deleted :dogkek:
This is WHy I LOVE MANGAPLUS
You THINK IT IS GReEN BUT IT IS AS RED AS THE cOMMUNIST PARADe!!!

Thus the red color of their site.

I, liked the ending? It was a story about a doctor sacrificing himself to ensure that a patient he deeply cared for was able to live the life of her dreams.
Don't force yourself dude.

The negatives are ACTIVELY taken down as a propaganda control... it wi make you think even this ass is tasty.

Kaguya-sama's ending was sorta weak but not to a point where I complained about Aka's laziness, but this shit is far worse. They really had to end OnK in the laziest most anticlimactic way imaginable. I don't think I'll ever read another work by Aka unless it's the promised Instant Bullet reboot which will definitely never happen.

Even Aqua and Ruby being reincarnations doesn't actually matter at all other than being incest bait that goes nowhere. The love triangle was also pointless. So much of this series was pointless.

Look an ending like this was fine but the problem the author tried to wrap it up in 12 chapters! It is not even a final arc, it is just a moment of an arc. A bad end isn't that surprising figuring out the artist is the one who made scum wish but the author to let Aqua die was a surprising move which I enjoyed.
Why make Goro the villain again? I thought we already dealt with it but no I guess fucking not. The final arc was disappointing man, the last arc had a satisfying end to it but the final arc tried to end it quickly like a shonen battle manga.
I bet if it simply had more chapters to build up to that point (instead of 12 fucking chapters) then I think people's options would be different.

The ending feels ass but it's logical.

Ruby (Sarina) can now live a life she always wanted but couldn't.
Aqua (Goro) saved Sarina now that he was able to and avenged Ai.
Akane was free from trying to sacrifice herself for Aqua.
Kana is back to what she really wanted from the start, acting.

Doesn't explain plotholes and used concepts that were never utilized later (like the crow girl) that are inexcusable even if publishers dragged this longer than it should be. Now that anime is over they cut the author short. After seeing this, we probably won't see the 3rd season and for good reason.

I'm hyped to be disappointed again for author's next work though.

he really shouldn't have worked on that other manga while working on this one (Renai Daikou), ffs the series also started strong but speedrun the axe.

the worse is I was friggin' collecting this manga, so I'm really hoping the last volume at least add some good extra.

at least, on the positive side, never been a fan of Mengo-sensei (hated scum's wish, but his art is really good, so I hope he keeps helping other authors with art, hopefully one that can friggin land an ending 🥲🥲)

Because it's a plot hole. Aka, for some strange reason, assumed that if Aqua remained alive, then everyone would immediately know that he killed Kamiki. Although he himself denied this, showing that no one knew at all that Aqua did this and as if forensic examination did not exist in the world of this manga. This once again shows that Aka added some moments purely for the sake of these moments and did not think about how much they make sense even within the framework of the ending.
