@deCarabasHJ I don't think he ever said he was to them, and she hasn't really inferred as much either. He's a little eccentric, clearly, but he's also independently well off financially speaking and has that huge house all to himself. The normal assumption of hikikomoris is probably to the tune of "leeching off of their parents or other relatives."

She might have thought he was just being lazy because he could afford it when she dragged him out of the house to go shopping with her.

@Glomoro It hasn't been said outright that he is a Hikikomori, but he lives a shut-in life and even displays signs of agorafobia and strong social anxiety.

Yes, he can shut himself in like that because he is financially independent, but he still seems like a Hikikomori to me. That's not a judgement from my side, debilitating social anxiety is a real problem.

My point was just that pulling him out of the house by the proverbial scruff of the neck isn't really helping. Exposure therapy is best used gradually.

Also, my comment was mostly made in jest, since this is a 4-koma comedy manga, so don't take it too seriously ;-)
