You'll get the occasional "story arc," in romcoms like this, but often the narrative content in these is just the characters interacting and gradually becoming closer through those interactions. And I would say that has been accomplished in this chapter; they went on an impromptu date and she bought something to wear just because he liked it, those are big steps for both of them towards their inevitable relationship.

This chapter will be especially worthwhile if we actually see her wearing the earrings (or I guess, earring) in future chapters, since that kind of incremental progress is what makes the big jumps believable.
Yeah, I get it. I read slice of life and gag stuff. There's no real movement in plot, but it accomplishes the same thing. I understood that was the goal of this chapter, but usually the chapters of this manga had something else attached to it while also accomplishing what this chapter does (deepening the relationship), so it was a bit interesting of a change. Which is why I'm thinking this date will be used for something in the plot for the future in a more defined way.

I swear if something stupidly bad happens to their relationship I'm burning down a government building
Despite what I was gearing up for from the first chapter the author seems to be quite capable of making the story move without unnecessary drama or overusing his fear of attachment to women.

I do think nothing like that would happen, or at least I hope so.
