It's ambiguous, but it seems like the grandfather cut the brakes so he doesn't turn back to his own old self.

or it could be that he somehow confused the brake for the gas. I am not knowledgeable in cars and its pedals but it's an automatic and according to google the accelerator is on the right. the "VROOOM" sfx and the speed lines seems to be hinting that it's accelerating. Could be hinting at the limited range of movement in the elderly, or it could be something else. Idk man this horror manga is more confusing than it is scary :nyoron:

I think it was supposed to be ambiguous whether they swapped back or not.

Also, I don't know how much true of it, but elders do mistakenly pressing on pedal instead of brake, happen to one of my aunt. IIRC, it's a sign of dementia?

(Also there's a chapter in Ikigami Sairin revolving around this and an invention to prevent case like this)

I think the son would be smiling if it was still the Grandpa still inside. I see the last panel as a look of contempt from the son, at both the experience of his body being stolen, and the new responsibility of taking care of his decrepit in-law while the Grandpa is reaching out and babbling, like the second baby he wanted the couple to have.

And now they DEFINITELY can't, because caring for his diaper wearing, dementia riddled ass, is going to dominate their life until he dies (which he wont because his invincible old-man bones somehow didn't shatter into a million pieces in the car crash).

Seriously, that type of 'old' would be reduced to paste if you bumped into him wrong.

half expected him to walk in on a cucking scene XD;;

aging should be seen as a blessing old ppl and children can be creepy under certain context

interesting he brought up pension in the beginning, other than gov welfare, isn't pension something you get after you already retire? versus like personally paying outta pocket to put your mother/father/in laws in a retirement home

versus working taxpayers money going into retired pension

i think after an 'accident' like that, they can make an excuse about potentially having the grandson being in danger and sticking him in a senior care center unless that's uncommon in JP

High life expentency and gov pension is bad when your population pyramid is inverted, you see the government start doing all sort of bullshit like importing random immigrants that may or not work and fit in just to get their billionaire friends bigger quarters and a measly increase in government income (thats gonna come from working people thats getting taxed more and see their money isnt enough for a family)

ah yes the golden years

Some places don't make this distinction and call the government's payments to old people a 'pension' even if the payments are from the government. Britain does this, the "state pension".

I think you're right. The son have probably returned to his body. The last panel might also signify that he's thinking of a way to get rid of that old guy ass.
