More sad than horrifying, really. Substance abuse habit, having a friend OD, then tying up her friend's loose ends before OD'ing herself. The friend being named Yume (sounds like 'dream') kinda adds an even sadder metaphor: substance abuse killed her dreams and her future, and she watches friends and family mourn for the parts of her they lost before she even died.
