But honorifics are not gendered pronouns, it's just common to refer to a girl in a formal way with -kun, example the staff at school to the students, also stuff like senshu (?).

Boku is boy-ish but also gap moe and girls identifying as female will use it as slang.

Japanese has NO concept of gendered pronouns whatsoever and there's no reason why to change stuff in the english translation unless they use stuff like Kare/kareshi or kanojo which are unambiguously gendered.

This all seems dumb and out of the way...

i'm so used to reading R-L that even if there's a note telling me to read L-R i still can't 😂

hope the translators reply or someone applies 😭😭

ngl it's funny to me how someone's motivation to support the author isn't because they're a fan of the work but bc they're a fan of the work and got upset that the free version they're using isn't using their preferred pronouns. personally i would've preferred using 'kou-kun' the whole time (but i didn't think about how much space it'd take for longer parts) and then 'she/her' (since everyone does know that kou's a female) but 'they/them' still works

For the pronoun, I'll say SJW are overdoing it as usual (like adding letters, numbers and mathematical operators one after another to the LGBT acronym (as if it wasn't long enough already ;op)), but as a non english native I always pictured they as a plural pronoun so I'm always somehow middly anoyed when I have the reflex to ask myself "her/him and who else is he/her talking about ?" when I read "they" used as a pronoun for a single person...

For manga cafés, yes they exist in the west, maybe not in America but they are some in Europe (I visited a few of them in France, Belgium, Netherlands, Italy and Germany, so yeah they are manga café in the west).

I don't know much about the Japanese language so I can't really comment on specifics, but I did want to say this:

Some people are being very negative in the comments which doesn't really help, vitriol doesn't do anything other than pushing the person you disagree further into their corner. I mostly disagree with the way the pronouns were presented mainly because they made interpreting the text more difficult than it needed to be. However, any difficulty interpreting is overridden by the joy of being able to read a wonderful manga like this. I wish it was easier to read, but regardless I'm thankful for y'all on the scanlation team taking the time to work on this series.

Wish the scanlation team the best. Thanks again for your hard work.

The Author notes really hit hard at home, especially the long-rpgs are such a pain when you're working full time and living independently. I've been playing shorter indie games or buy those RPGs during long holiday breaks. RIP my youth!

About the translator's notes. I don't really care either way. Pronouns aren't going to trip me up. As long as they can continue translating smoothly, I don't mind. If I had an issue with it I guess I could have bought the official translation off Amazon.

Couldn’t believe it, I had to make an account just because of what I read and waited to post. I believe people should use people’s preferred pronoun, full stop. However, you’re telling me despite the official translations and the intent of the author to create a shy geek that represents nerd girls who aren’t as stereotypically attractive as Narumi and Koyonagi.....despite the fact she wore a long dress and everything to showcase she’s a shy otaku....you use pronouns as if she is trans or non binary as some type of message for no reason? It’s like you want to provoke your own readers and weebs....it makes no sense to put that kind of agenda, and it’s silly to pretend you aren’t doing one if you disregard the author, or maybe someone on staff is self inserting on the character.

@Cantbelieveit Yes, we are trying to provoke the readers just because we're not official, but a scan. Hence, we have the right to do whatever we want.

Okay jokes aside, I really hope you support the mangaka by purchasing the official volumes. I'm sure that they have the standard you're looking for, and they're legal and legit :)

@InFinaLynx : Already got the french version up to volume 6 (volume 7 went out during the COVID lock down here so I didn't went to get it yet), but they are slow as hell (8 month between volume 6 and volume 7 !) so I'm quite happy that I can read it early thanks to your translations (still think you are overdoing it with the confusing pronoun stuff but your team is translating it on their free time without forcing anyone to get shovelled ads through the nose to read it, so I guess you deserve some well earned leeway ;o).

Unfortunately, here in France Amazon got the anime license and they are locking it behind prime subscription (insert mental image of a generic dragon with a face looking like the amazon logo sitting on his treasure of animes, series and other stuff), so there will probably be no DVD or B-Ray version in the foreseeable future... Sigh...

@InFinaLynx Okay then can you say why you are doing it? All I see is long winded messages about how we can go read the official(which I do when it’s out, and I’m not sure why you didn’t skip these chapters which are out officially in English) if we don’t like that you are mistranslating on purpose.

@Cantbelieveit we have already explained why we did it. We explained that it's not mistranslation or typo. It's in the last few pages of the chapter. I don't think it's fruitful for me to repeat myself.

As for the skipping of chapters, we already had most of the chapters ready (even before we knew the official release is going to be out). We didn't want to let anyone's effort go to drain, so we decided to release it regardless.
