Katarina's charm is over 9000; she got Geordo's greatest weakness and fear and took it away in a second. I am afraid he would be the one who would die on the wedding night out of happiness.

feel like the author drag this story as long as he can before he get axed. And some the other character barely got any development since beginning.

I read the LH and I think this event changed as Katerina met the uncle instead of the former queen (or she met both, I dont remember). The uncle called Katerina to her a face a manipulative person. When they met again, the uncle did soften a bit and wiped off leaves off of Katerina's hair because she was going through bushes.
I felt it does too. It took up to 11 volumes for Katarina to win a battle of her own and talk to Geordo and Keith about their confession. She told them they'll get an answer about the confession after her conflict of the 2nd game is finished. So far each volume is about Katerina and Maria studying an ancient book of light and darkness and at the end of each book has her dealing the cult and human trafficking. Of course Katerina can't read the book because she slacked off during class. The book also has an anti-cheat so Katarina has to study. The original cast have been cast to the background. Katarina does gain some new darkness abilities which are:
1. Darkness absorption - It absorbs darkness by creating small back balls. Its used to dispel effects of darkness.
2. Object creation - Katarina can form objects with her dark magic. She goal is to create a key to escape from imprisonment like in the game. So far she can form a scepter with a crude skull on it.
3. Form Snakes - When she saw her friends getting hurt, she lost control of her magic and form snakes to restrict her attackers.

Agreed, very unfortunate, it feels like it was just intended to end with the friendship end back then and the author kept going because it was popular.
The VN/Otome game (the irl one not the one in the story) gave them a decent ending at least.
