What happened? Did the group doing this series get banned? I can't remember who was doing it so I can't check their group page.

Edit: I think it was this group https://mangadex.org/group/b430dc94-b66e-4c61-8159-33153f709a71/alonescan and yeah they did get banned for breaking rule 5.2.22 of the TOS "use the Site as part of any effort to compete with us or otherwise use the Site and/or the Content for any revenue-generating endeavor or commercial enterprise." I think they were advertising their Patreon on their credits pages.

Then that's where mangadex does a funky thing called putting in some effort. All they had to do was scrub the advertising out, ban the people, but leave their work up.

I don't know if asking them to do more unpaid work is the answer, but I do wish this whole "wiping a group and every chapter they ever posted off the face of the site" thing would stop.

Dead up if they're doing this and expecting money they should stop. They're taking someone else's work, translating and drawing over it. Yea we wouldn't be here without them, but let's not act like this is a need and not a want. No one is making them do unpaid work, they signed up for this hobby, they can stop whenever they want if they don't like the rules. If they removed it then that's fair, I'm just tired of manga dex being the one to go scorched earth

I read my comment again and I understand why you read it that way. I wasn't clear. However, I was referring to the Mangadex mods doing more unpaid work by removing the credits pages.

My bad, yea it would be a big ask of them to download each affected page, scrub it and maybe redraw, and upload. I just wish scanlation crews quit acting like they're super stars and getting a big head. It's either constant patreon advertisements or them saying to go to another website for some reason

sometimes the scanlation group just puts some words at the end/their opinion on the chapter or keeping people up to date with the upload process but i do believe that receiving money isn't something that's necessarily deserved (especially with how some people see scanlation legaly/morally) but making people pay you to scanlate a series is just wrong no matter what imo, and for everyone telling to you to go to this or that website is annoying, i only really got an account for dynasty cause i wanted to read a series that was on there but i don't wanna create hundreds of accounts for something that'd take less effort to just buy
