I fucking love be how Angie just knew that Leon was gonna go ape shit the second he saw the queen being threatened.

Side Note: How the hell do these nobles not know who other nobles are? First it was Leon's dad's wife not knowing who Angie was, despite living in the capital, and now it's this twin-tales bitch calling the queen of all people a hag..?!

Imagine if Leon somehow score major favor points for the Queen to fall for him..
Idk why that came to mind. Probably from just liking how she looks.
Crazy how even being a part of a duke family doesn't help Angie from these crazy lower rank noble women.

@rafaelrgm Oh snap, the author is the one who did Sevens? No wonder I enjoyed this one. Sevens was really good especially the dungeon exploring part and its approach to adventuring is more down to earth than other fantasy or isekai novels. Only bad point is the android maid's "muh glorious old culture that is not actually Japanese at all" wank. That merchant daughter was the best girl. I really miss Mr. Lyle.

My interpretation of the setting:

Despite the mecha there's no internet so if you've never personally met someone you'd have NO IDEA what they actually look like, and the only time you'd really encounter a picture of someone would be in a situation where you'd be able to personally meet them anyway (like at there home). Now granted for royalty a random painting of them hanging on some wall might not be uncommon, but unless your family is heavily in their service/sucking up to them you probably won't see it on any of the walls you frequent.

Given how self-obsessed most of the Woman have been, I don't think its too much of a stretch to say that most of these bitches don't know the faces of anyone outside the other bitches they have tea and generate bad karma with. Hell because they are Nobles they probably just send a servant at any opportunity that could have let them meet a new face.

With Zora (Leon's Dad's Wife) she was definitely not actually important enough to have ever be close to Angie's family and won't know Angie's face, so her assumption that if Leon invited her that meant she was nobody important was in character. To me at least.

@Brutu mr. lyle will always be Best Lyle.
The maid actually is quiite important to understand the backstory of the world and also the direction Lyle goes.

Heavy spoilers for those who haven't read sevens bellow:

While it is not thrown on our face, since the main arc of the protagonist is to leave the grievances of the past behind and look toward the future, we get enough pieces of the puzzle to put together the backstory of the world.

ps: I may have written a bit too much... sorry.
Note: "What exact the maid has to do with this?" at the bottom.

First of all, Sevens is not a fantasy, it's scifi.
It is earth, thousands(maybe tens of thousands) of years in the future.
The "Growths" are nothing more than what happens when people get more synchronize with the system.
The technological advancements made humans stagnant, they had nothing nothing to strive for, and after that they started to decline and somehow we were taking the world together with them(think the magician's village, but on a global scale).
The ten "goddessess" were probably some kind of experiment to try and solve this stalemate and save humanity. BUT, Nihil, Octō and Novem had a different idea of how the species could be saved and revolted against the other seven.
.
There was a clash of interest and we don't know the details, just that the three created contrast for the humans,
-Octō created monsters to give humans a reason to strive to get stronger and better themselves. Also, the original Octō probably is still alive even
-Novem created the demi-humans to help humans and also to give them something to compare themselves to.
-We don't know what Nihil did, but we know that she got disillusioned and asked Novem to be turned into one of the demi-humans she had created. She was particularly fond of the elves.
For what they had done the humans labeled them "Evil gods", but Nihil was soon forgoten and only Octo and Novem remained in people's memories.
.
Things happened and the collapse of civilization got worse
.
-It's not clear how all the other goddess responded, but we know someone must have created the divine beasts to keep monsters to overrun humanity, maybe Octō herself.
-Trēs did something in the oceans.
-And Septem, whose research probably had the most relation with the biology of the humans themselves, rerouted some of the still functioning systems of the decadent civilization to give "magic" to the humans, so they could fight against monsters. Magic was something natural she and the other "goddesses" could manipulate at will, but the humans couldn't do that, so she made incantations and Skills to help humans control magic.
.
.
.
Thousands of years passed, and the past became legend and mtyh, the the central figures of the time became goddesses and evil gods. These goddessess had a way to keep the memories of the past of being lost by making so their descendants would inherit them along with their powers. This would also make so every descendant memories would keep memories from every previous ancestor. Most of the time they couldn't remember all of them at the same time. The Nihil clan cut themselves from this system pretty early on. Some of the others didn't.
.....
....
...
..
.
Basically a pretty heavy and convluted past, no wonder Lyle basically said:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5FjWe31S_0g

And decided it was not his problem to solve.
This atitude of always striving forward is one the entire clan Walt usually take. That's the reason the Forxuzes(Novem's descendants) are so loyal to them.

And before you ask what does all of this have to do with the maid, just look what she does and says... All of her actions are in the direction of puting Lyle in the exact kind of situation that destroyed mankind before. Her and all of the automatons represent exactly what went wrong in the past, and worse yet, they glorify it.
Also, all of that above are not all my own resoning. it's from the discussions.

I would say Imouto may not be the best girl, but she is the best girl for the protagonist. Their banter as a couple in the "Marie's Route" side story is way more entertaing than most of his interactions in the canon universe.
Not to mention, the author was kind/evil enough to show a hint of what truly happened in the original world of the game. Olívia really got incredibly lucky Marie stole her role. But now I want more of that universe. Seriously, that was Evil as F, who the hell creates such an interesting setting for a "What if?" side story.

Looking back on that satisfying punch, Leon used magic or something to gain that boost effect, right?

@Rafaelrgm, the reason why Marie's route is more interesting is because it's not as fragmented and chaotic as the main story which is focuses on too many things that are constantly happening in too many places and all this without completing any of them for good until the epilogue as there is no brakes on the death flag train, almost all of them were triggered by Marie's act of smashing the main route into smitheries and consequences of Leon's fixing them before the country/world were destroyed.

In the side-story Leon's retirement plan gone just as planned and things he done happened at his own pace of background mob character and from his own choices without "oh crap, I need to do something fast" each few days when some new crap was triggered by Marie or her harem and was about to kill himself in the process. In the main story it gone astray from the very start and Leon needed to fix things which caused him to become a protagonist of sorts, do many things that he didn't wanted and become too flashy while his "sweet peaceful home" was destroyed by descending meteor which consisted of protagonist+villainess that were torn out of main story like some garbage and spiced up by a promotion.

In the side-story we have a similar main characters with common grounds of being reincarnators with tough past/similar initial circumstances in this world/some incestuous vibes of seeing a sibling in each other, the story is fully focused on them and not much unexpected things happen so the story goes at slow pace, even if something happens it makes ther bond stronger. Marie is way more honest and didn't destroyed the main route so it works like planned, Leon didn't shown his strength too much, didn't triggered too many events, girls from the main route aren't interested in him(in process of budding lol?), "demonic" Leon almost didn't had the chances to show up with his iconic "legitimate self-defence till your total destruction". In the main story we have a duke's daughter and future saint being dropped on the lower noble character that wanted just to live peacefully and marry some knight's daughter, his peaceful future was destroyed by the reincarnator that messed with the main route and there will be even more of them, let's not forget those idiotic capture male targets that make things even more messy. To fix it Leon needs to break that rotten reverse harem so he used Ange's dilemma of not having someone to fight for her sake in the duel to beat the crap out of the reverse harem, raising affection points, before he also gave some food for the stray cat(Olivia) which also unnecessarily raised affection points. His actions ended with promotion, girls in academy that seen men as trash before now seeing him as enemy or problematic candidate so Leon is unable to find a fiance, nobles seeing him as a dangerous upstart noble and start to mess with him which only promoted him even more and showed his battle potential which triggered nobles to mess with him even further, having two VERY problematic girls being interested in him. Too many chaotic things happen which is a good and interesting for action story with elements of romcom which goes to nowhere but it's too flashy and bad thing for a pure romance as there is no time for it.

Having a few routes in one tankoubon with some differences and additional plot is a pretty good thing, especially when it isn't so realistic to publish some "light" and "dark" series of the same title as tankoubons. It's hard to make the amount of side-story big enough to complete a book but how it's implemented here isn't that bad for both routes - making both of series big will ends up with repeating the most of basic plot to make it readable as independent book, or you'll have a 1-2 volumes of compressed side-story that is absolutely unreadable without knowing the plot of main 7-8 volumes. Here we have the same main characters and not some side characters to have an excuse to make spin-off about them, also showing additional information from the POVs of main chapters in the "different" storyline looks many times more harmonious than adding many POVs chapters from random characters, latter kills such a stories by making them even more messy and chaotic. There is no real need to have too much of plot alterations than we have in Marie's route already so it's pretty enough to add a few chapters in each "plump" tankoubon to have the same 1-2 "virtual dark volumes" for the whole series.

I liked how that "route thing" was done in the anime Amagami SS - even while each heroine's route/arc had just 4 episodes, they didn't felt being too short as there were many things between those routes that helped to complete the shallow parts of each of them, highlighted the basic storyline while the character development and backstory was shown by using different perspectives of each route/arc and even if some parts of personality or plotline weren't shown in their own routes, they were shown in other ones and thus completed it. As for me, what Marie's route done even while being short is still enough to be seen just as "full" route - it's uses the same world with few different choises and there is only one heroine just like in Amagami SS, and even if a few new girls/chooses will be added later, their backstory is already highlighted enough in the main story and doesn't need to be repeated, there wouldn't be "the heck is that, the heck is this, the heck is you?" when you don't understand what happened or it will need too much of text to be explained.

Man, too many spoilers, hide it with the tag.

Also, the world of the SS still seems to be going in the route of Leon having to save the day. Olívia got possessed and started turning the world in the same route as the game, but Leon now is in colision route against her, since he fought the pirates got the necklace. Not to mention he is the "hero", he can feel when something bad happens and that usually unconciously leads him to solve the problem. The same happened when Olívia got possessed, he felt it. Which implies he will act to save her. And even in this world, he still got acquainted with Angie as well. So it still probable he will intervene in the duel scene.

While it may seem that he finally got his peaceful life, things were only this chaotic in the original timeline because Marie rushed it. My guess is that in the end he still will get Angie and Livia on his side, even if it's just as friends.

Oh no, I understand that the maid and her other replicas are crucial to the story. Problem is, I enjoyed reading Sevens because it's much different from all the other novels at the time when isekai novels are being translated here and there. Sevens isn't an Isekai, has a more down to earth approach in the adventuring, great dungeon crawling, great characterization (even if the harem member adds up, the author doesn't forget who is who and each girl constantly shows their personality, not reduced into a background character), etc. The best one is the fact that no "muh greatest Japanese culture folded over a thousand times" wanking (Muh soy sauce, muh onsen, muh rice, muh katana, etc) that is UNTIL the maid brings it up out of nowhere(yeah yeah, there's a backstory of that but still). Definitely reduced my enjoyment in reading Sevens.
Thankfully only the maid does this sort of thing, and Lyle is still sane. I'm really glad he's sticking to his scimitar instead of changing it to notKatana when the maid give the weapon to him.
