I've seen the joke played out before in manga - that to anyone who's like 11-14, being over 20 is "middle aged".
And anyone who's parent-aged (like, 30s) is either "parent-aged" (which I guess means decrepit), or simply 'old as shit'.

Works better in Nordic languages ( well, at least provides the extra joke opportunity) - 'medelålders' vs 'medeltida' .
