"You should be thankful that I didn't assault you" is definitely quite a thing to say. And so far this character has been written as someone who's way too smart to say anything to that effect. No clue how much less weird it sounds in japanese, but yeah.

He's always encouraging her to be more guarded around guys (not really letting himself understand he's the only guy she's like this around because of the implications). This is the bluntest reminder yet, but that's because this is the most dangerous situation she's put herself in yet.

Right that was my reaction.

I get it, I get that this is one of those "Japanese" things, but it comes off as REALLY RAPEY which I feel like isn't the tone this manga has been taking in general.

I feel like it just...didn't need to be said.

Not everything needs to be spun out into typical Romance Drama.

I feel like she'd have to negotiate that with her parents, and I get the impression that's a can of worms not to deal with just yet, let alone they're still not officially a couple for awhile yet, either. But it definitely seems like it'd be much better for her in the long run if she relies on him and his parents instead of her own, once those details can be addressed.

But still, her parents are still likely covering the rent and we know they're giving her an allowance, and there's no real need to stop them blowing their money on her just yet. Let alone the fact there's no real need to trouble her with having to deal with them more than she has to, considering the fairly apparent parental issues that have been alluded to so far.

So, this, "If anything, you should be thankful that I didn't try anything." line that's getting attention in the comments... I dunno if it's really that much better, but the subtitles I saw in the anime for this scene had him say, "In fact, you should thank me for doing absolutely nothing." Just thought I'd point that out.
