I still really hope this goes past the anime. I love these two so much.

Really in this thread too many people posting spoilers without spoiler tags. Come on people, that's not cool.

Luckily I'm a novel reader...
I kind of wish they got week-long bans when they do stuff like that.

Not that long, I believe that this was episode 7 or 8 of the anime, so a few more chapters until the sports festival and the big reveal
TBF, the anime skipped past vast swaths of V3 and quite a bit of V4, so it's not as straight a line as that made it seem. There's about three months in-universe between this and that.

Mostly SoL? You only have so many episodes to get to a good season climax and sometimes stuff that's not essential to the main plot has to get dumped. A good example of this is with Horimiya, where they cut enough SoL to make a second season (which was really well done the way they grouped the scenes together by character so that each character's SoL stuff made a coherent episode).

For some reason I dont remember this part in the anime at all.

Was this scene skipped as well?
What Bonzalez said- it definitely was not skipped. In fact, a good chunk of what has been adapted into the manga thus far has not been skipped by the anime. Far as I can tell from what others have said, we haven't gotten to the anime's wholesale skipping of things from the LN just yet.

The only thing the anime has outright skipped so far was everything in chapters 16.2 and 16.3 of the manga adaptation. Otherwise, there were two scenes simplified down to splash art and a line of dialog (both were about meals or meal-prep around New Year's), and the other was a transmuted scene in Ch4.1, where the dialog between Mahiru and Amane there was placed at the very end of Episode 1 as additional conversation tied to the end of the cleaning visit, and they just avoided talking about Itsuki's father's issues with Chitose until about when Valentines came up.

Otherwise, virtually everything the manga has adapted has been in the anime, thus far, up to halfway through Episode 7.

But I suspect it's soon to change once we're past Volume 5 of the manga. But I can't say until we have more of the manga to compare to the anime. There's also been a few moments added to the anime that weren't in the manga, and vice versa.

Probably won't happen for a good long while, to be honest. Unless you're asking for them to get to the bulk of the stuff the anime skipped, now that's probably sooner. I suspect we're going to finally get there in the next few manga volumes, since the first four volumes seem mostly there for the anime, from what I've gathered from LN reader comments and my own anime-manga analysis thus far.

But since there's a season two of the anime coming (sounds like it'll finally be here next year), the manga is going to be even further behind in terms of where the anime stopped, I suspect. It will not catch up by then, considering how long it's taken the manga to get to this point, and it will likely take at least the same amount of time again to get to where Episode 12 ended... again, based on what I've understood.
