I have a sudden urge for extreme violence
You're welcome! From what I remember, the manga does tend to keep more of Amane's thoughts than the anime did, so I don't think it's as bad in that regardOne thing that is missing from the anime and manga is Amane's thoughts. One of the reasons why I loved the novel is the exposition; without that, Amane feels like a generic, bland protagonist. Well, he still is (sorta), but not as bad as the anime and the manga portrayed it.
Oh well, as usual, thank you for the translation.
Smhmarry just for convenience
not like each other at all
still do a one night stand
They did though. Abysmal parents they may be, but not irresponsible ones - they do support her financially, after all and on a decent standard of living too. This could be so much worse for her, lots of kids are not only unloved, but also destitute and abused in all sorts of ways.Smh
Also not only they aren't proper parents, but not even proper adults because they can't and don't want to take any responsability for what was their "mistake"
Emotional support of your child is your responsibility as a parent. They did though. Hey anyone know where mom & pops are now?😇![]()
As a good parent. As far as the law is concerned the parent must provide for the child, give it a safe environment for living and learning and of course, not do harm to it physically or emotionally. I agree that telling your child that it was unwanted and that you seek to cut ties with it could be considered abuse, but it's not nearly enough for any court to act on, especially given the girl's age. You would not believe what kind of treatment gets a pass in fact. This would be considered a sad, but totally acceptable case.pro-life parenting right there

True, but bear in mind that the parents can't be unreasonably hard on her because if she would have shown any signs of problems (denutrition, not going to school properly, ecc) probably the two families would have stepped in and discovered the truth about her situation. They did though. But what's there to even cover up? When it comes to covering things up regarding kids, the parents do so in order not to lose custody of them. She herself said neither of hers want custody, in fact they're just waiting for that not to be an issue to divorce. I'd imagine that if either side of her family was willing to take her in, her parents would have arranged for it long ago, since they're so keen to be rid of her.True, but bear in mind that the parents can't be unreasonably hard on her because if she would have shown any signs of problems (denutrition, not going to school properly, ecc) probably the two families would have stepped in and discovered the truth about her situation.
Supporting her financially is just a cover-up for them, not something they do out of good will
I will say that slagging "her parents" as a unit turns out to be a little off. Sure, Mom's a total cunt, but Dad was equal parts the stereotypical JP businessman type whose work takes priority over everything else and an awkward dude who didn't know how to be a father or show affection or just plain show up. Which he knows and regrets, though it'll be ages before that plot thread shows up in the manga. It's been awhile since I've genuinely felt so much frustration and anger over a manga, simply because of neglect. Like it's common authors would go cheap and dirty and feature sexual abuse, violence, scamming or something else to paint the parents as absolutely trash. But this time it's purely a revelation of how her parents couldn't give two fucks about their own daughter, who struggled so much to be recognised, and we've seen how good of a person she is, the fact that she was neglected so much really hurts
