"But Mahiru and I are just strangers."
That's a weird way of spelling "good friends".

Suddenly it started raining here too.

crying girls are cute
They're cuter when they don't.

It's time to spoil her rotten and shower her with love
She won't be ready for it.

become the better parents to shove it in their face
Biggest challenge of the year, there. For their next challenge, I recommend jumping over a line in the sand.

A bit depressing this time but its something vital for the next stage of their relationship.
Dunno where sheet Amane pulled came from though as it wasn't there on 21.1, but suddenly was there by 21.3.

I'm not satisfied with the shitty grandparents not getting elaborated.... from both ma n pa side... all 6 of her grown family members seriously don't care about her?

how about aunts or uncles?

and where is that housekeeper all these while?

no adults at all is BS if she became this well adjusted even if only on the surface.

how old when she started realizing the parents are shitty towards her? until her finally deciding to live alone? too many years of neglect and she doesn't became an 'angel' seems to rose tinted glass of a story.
It is not mentioned in this scene for what reason why Mahiru's parents can't rely on their parents to take care of Mahiru instead, but it may be for the same reason why they can't get divorced - it would cause trouble if they knew about what they had done. Or maybe her grandparents are scum too, who knows

It turns out that this whole time, Amane was her angel. And he will be for real after the ending.

...I'm still not sure how I feel about the "Amane ascends to a higher plane of existence" plotline in the last arc, though. I guess they had to find some way to bring Mahiru back after Amane killed her to save the world, but it just felt a bit too deus ex machina-ish. I think it would have been a better story overall if they kept her dead.

Calling this now: in the future they'll go to see his parents at his old home, she wakes up the next morning and is greeted by his father and mother, making her feel like in a normal family for the first time in her life. And she'll cry again, but by the happiness of feeling warmth

I've a few friends who ended up in this boat. Parents were disowned or grandparents were abusive and in the end ended up alone with no one to support them. You meet a lot of people with similar stories in foster care.
Some of them made it out okay but a lot fell into self harm, drug use or killed themselves.

On my side, my grandparents on dad's side only found out I was still alive 2 years ago, 30 years after he stopped contact with them. We live continents apart and they're poor so no chance they would've been able to help when I was a homeless teen. Mums side are abusive narcissists, mum especially so.

People in this comment section don't get how realistic this shit is. This is pretty damn normal for me. You should all hug a loved one and be thankful for what you've got in your lives.

I grew up with loving parents,
but I also got friends that did not share that and have just as terrible parents as Mahiru here.
