Id beg to differ that hand cream wouldn't spoil. Maybe not all, some or many.
Plenty of cosmetics have organic components that to spoiler or go bad and as such many have expiration dates. Continuing to use over date cosmetics can I introduce bacterial and fungus directly to your skin.
You can actually refrigerate them to help them keep long, though I don't know how that may affect their use during application and appearance as cosmetics.
