I think it boring she just steam rolled right back to them. Would have been more interesting as an event if she did a little show and pretended to do a phase 3 appearance.

Players are doing heavy lifting storywise by making them stretch out an explanation of it being a scripted loss event.

If it is a game, and have AI good enough to allow Deas' stunt to me ascertained by said AI, then I'd be scared, both as a player and a dev. An AI that good will eventually pick up on game-breaking strategies and be able to execute TAS only manoeuvres that will make it nigh-on impossible for players to counteract it.

I think the 'best' narrative choice is to make it a world accessible via a game, i.e. an isekai game world that the physical system is the gateway to the world, and the way back.
Ai using exploit or causing game breaking bug are not really new, especially on those speed run genre. the only different here are it usually take million of iteration before it can really happen instead of seemingly logical thinking like this one.

but yeah as you expected while its fine on single player game, its pretty bad on multi player game, so most of the time it would be patched out.

considering how the dev handle Rare case they probably would patch the player balance instead of nerfing the npc.
in the end we can wait on how the dev handle this now, if it was rebalanced, then it most likely a really good game, like what happen in "Shangrila frontier" if its not then it would turn into another universe like what happen in "Infinite Dendogram".

Is the darkening sky not enough for you? This game treats itself like reality, so I wouldn't expect the orchestra to pick up.

Except she's the only one that knows that (outside of devs).

At the end of the day, she has the unfair advantage of knowing who's an NPC and who's the Player. Had the Players known she's a Player herself, their strategy would probably be completely different. And you can't blame the Players for not knowing because there is zero signs of her being a Player other than the "Players can pick sides" thing (which doesn't even work in-context).

Realistically, the game should function via MMO rules where characters have their names floating over their heads, where how it's written makes it very obvious who are Players and who are NPCs/mobs.

I might have missed it - what special feature allows her to know who's a player versus an NPC?

Because so far it seems the only reason they're all convinced she's a raid boss is because she's "not on the side of humans", which--you'll have to explain how "players can pick both sides" doesn't work in-context.
Rare says it herself - she took debuffs at the very start to acquire a bit of extra initial XP, and that snowballed into where she's landed as an incredibly powerful entity with lots of minions at her disposal. Nothing that she's done was some cheat, but pure dumb luck and a willingness to go laterally to what might be considered "conventional" in gaming, by virtue of just how open-ended this entire world and setup is.

The only gripe that I can think to have, is that she's being shown as the only player who chose the "monsters" side, because even if the majority of the userbase is caught up in the "I'm a good guy!" mindset there should be at least a few others running around who would be working alongside her in such a huge event, even in their little corner of the world map.

As far as the "MMO rules", that presupposes that it's an issue that one can't tell who's an NPC versus a PC. Again, I'm not sure why it's relevant, because it sounds like you're basing that on the fact that she's incredibly powerful in her current iteration which--again--she didn't cheat or P2W or anything like that, or do anything that exploited the game in a fashion no other player could had they thought of it.

It's been stated since the beginning that the only difference between a player and an npc is if they can receive system messages. This is also why an npc dying is permanent (they can't see the system message for revival) unless they're subordinated in which case the revival is set to automatically accept after an hour passes if their master is alive. There's no external way to actually know for sure, and the info almost all players are going by (only players can use inventory) is wrong.

This is a really important concept for this series. Anyone who made the choices at the start that Rare did could have learned the same information. Most of them are instead treating it as a normal video game and not a world life simulator.

Rare's sister has been breaking the game more than Rare is, via actual unintended methods.
