I doubt this actually needs to be said, but as you know the author would have made a hint towards that if we were meant to think they would end up together later on. It was fairly obvious we were meant to realize that the story was about unreciprocated love.

But sure, if you prefer having a head-canon to make it a happy ending in your mind, feel free. I know there've been stories where I have knowingly let my head-canon supercede even author's explicit mention to the contrary, because that makes me happier (or whatever reason). Such is perfectly OK.
And arguably my interpretation here could just be a head-canon too anyway (even if that requires some suboptimal writing; It is after all just an interpretation).

If you meant the lily flowers, I thought that was just mc's perspective (because I would've been really surprised if love interest fell in love with mc the day after she got rejected by the person she likes).
Generally flower bg's are only visible to the mc's, or else shoujo manga would be very different .

I mean, didn't the prince say she liked the guy because he was cool? The fact that it ends with the prince saying that she's also cool is a pretty apparent parallel.
