@kojiro481 And i think weird is not enough to describe that dream. I know dreams have meanings but did dreaming about aquatics animals while searching someone you miss had a meaning or did the author just wanted to draw fishs ?

@Lilliwyt I think it's mostly tries to convey a fantastic (for a lack of a better term) feel that one might get for things that one wishes deep inside.

Anyway, it's weird and I don't think I can quite explain what I'm trying to say, so damn it.

If you don't mind tinfoil hatting in your symbolism, here's a bit of possible symbolism:

They're all ocean fish, and as she goes along the fish are from deeper and deeper depths. Deep & dark waters tend to symbolize loneliness and isolation, so it *could* represent her feelings of such, which isn't too much of a stretch when you consider how young she was and how far Fuyu moved away. For a child, someone moving even a town or two over night as well be a different planet of they don't have contact info.

Or the artist might have just wanted to draw their latest acid trip; both are possible.

@leolab Sounds pretty convincing to me, although I wouldn't just consider the deep water fishes as the only images of loneliness but the entire landscape as it just looks like a plain with no end.

But I would also take the acid trip route to be honest.

@Lilliwyt I think the whole aquatic theme is more of a ''background noise'' in her dream, for lack of a better way to put it. That stuff is often on her mind so her subconscious tends to go to it a lot I guess, something like that. Or the author thought it looked pretty and just went with it

@Korath Thanks a lot for that, lately I've been really into post rock and this is one is quite amazing. Although this one goes well with the chapter, Flying whales was more of a joke but if you are into metal, Gojira are like the best thing in the world.
