Yeah I don't really get, "I'm super strong and powerful at X but my love interest is way better than me at X and clearly doesn't take me seriously as an opponent," as a fantasy. Either we're evenly matched and both working hard to defeat each other or X is my thing and he gets to be good at something that complements X.
