While the lead make-up is a classic stereotypical scenario, I’m sort of glad we’re going away from the too much like a video game description to a more realistic one, although its sort of funny to me that it’s very specifically points out that its lead and mercury make-up. It’s not like it always told the component make-up of other make-ups like that. Anyway, the thought started when she made the rings that makes you immune to status ailment but like, the whats considered a status ailment in real life? Would it heal high blood pressure? Diabetes? While her powers seem like a video game, she’s not actually a video game character so its weird when they act like it is.

Wonder if they would start tackling other uses of these minerals in industrial and commercial markets as well. Sure cosmetics was a few direct vector that poisoned humanity, but lead and mercury were also used extensively in all manner of products and production processes thrueout the victorian and industrial ages. And that doesn't even account for all the centuries lead was used a cheap and easy to form pipe to carry water around cities and homes.

Victorians got up to lot of really nasty stuff... Like very nice green from arsenic... Wallpapers especially, but also others.

In general lot of stuff that make us shudder these days.

LoL

I'm a child of the 70s. Lead pant, leaded gas, lead water pipes, asbestos floor tiles in schools, asbestos insolation in lots of homes...

You could say it got somewhat better, only for people to make it worse. On the one hand you have all the bullshit about micro plastic, pesticides, fertilizers, and plant killers that keeps being leaked from all the megacorps. On the other you have the big pharmaceutical and insurance companies scamming everyone for every nickle and dime they can squeeze out of you.

So yeah... I'm not sure which is better. People getting sick due to ignorance, or out of greed.

Also book covers. There’s even an international catalogue of old green books in libraries because the green covers are toxic (and therefore must be handled with the utmost care like the biohazard it is)

Common good only prevails when there is too much sustained outrage to maintain heading, or if there’s a massive/game-breaking profit/advantage to be had to not continue the previous path of most profitability. The threshold for outrage, notably, has risen steeply over the years as leaders get increasingly thick-skinned, callous, and immune to criticism (some even bragged about being criticized as if they’re the new Muhammad. No offense intended, but it does get to cult-like status with some of the current world leaders.).

Sigh

Great, I just remembered that Veritasium video about a certain US company who made a well known Herbicide and buried the effects of being exposed to it.
