These nobles have crawled so far up their own asses, it'd be quicker to pull them out through the mouth, cripes.

They really have the sheer fucking gall to proclaim that the heroes that saved the world are subordinate / worth less than their useless, greedy and fat asses? They probably can't even govern their territory properly from what we've seen so far of their collective political acumen.

Nice work on the guards' part to intercept that communication, and immediately start meting out punishment. Excellent to see.

If they were competent, then they'd have been assassinated by the Demon Lord's brainwashed minions (who were the former male Heroes of the world), or kidnapped by said-same minions and brainwashed so that they could either be used to manage her empire or sent back as sleeper agents to fuck up the nations from the inside.

It's consistent with what we've been told happened to men that the Demon Lord thought were actual threats that she could get to (Horace being protected 24/7 by, essentially, an army of Terminators inside the castle of the capital of the most powerful kingdom, obviously being someone she couldn't reach).
I don't know if the author actually planned it out this way, but the nobles being this stupid does make sense with what we've been told. The age bracket of the nobles (they are old enough to have been prime military fighting age or to act as commanders during the war against the Demon Lord), the fact that we haven't seen a single woman among the stupid nobles, does fit in with the idea that the Demon Lord caused a competency drain on the male population of the nobles of the world.

Whether intentionally or not, the nobles not being able to properly govern their territories and causing unnecessary problems for the women who saved the world is a result of the Demon Lord's actions.

I forgot about that, it's been a while. But yeah, you're entirely correct.

I forgot but that is a genius idea if the author planned it. Though it seems the king learned competency while also allowing the incompetent to remain while thinking they were competent shows a massive failure on his part.

I don't think he thought the nobles might be competent; Chapter 6 Page 9, the King was already drawing up lists on which nobles to imprison where. He fully intended to purge all of the incompetent nobles, they just happened to do something so monstrously stupid and piss off the Hero earlier than he had expected.

Babbling about your evil plan right in the same place you hold the international meeting is certainly a choice.

You could pretty much replace those nobles with some random you bump into on the streets and it won't make a difference. Even worse when they actually work better than the actual nobles.

Considering the complaints from the commoners that Horace (or Horus, whichever way you want to spell his name) had to field, it does seem like it wasn't just the upper echelons of the nobility and government that suffered from the Demon Lord's competency drain. So there probably wouldn't be much of a difference between a random peasant and the typical noble that survived through the war by being too stupid to not be targeted.

At least, in the end, the nobles made it easy for the king to perform his purge in a legal manner.

This chap made me think that, making a similar scene with bitch-slapping higher ups like that, would be a pretty dope premise if you just have Putin or the Trump administration, or the Israeli gov on there.

It'd be heavily political, but very cathartic for a lot of people, in a world where the only solution (currently) is just to protest (where are my gullotines?).
