I can resent, you can resent, and they can resent, but it is their resentment that can be passed to others.
I hope that the translator takes some artistic liberty with the spell chanting to get the intent/feel across instead of being purely literal, it really helps in these types of fantasy translations.

I hope you like character development! He is really simplistic and short sighted right now, but the MC gradually changes over the course of the story and it's a big reason OG is one of my fav novels. Based on the speed of the manga so far, it's roughly 1:1 manga chapter to novel chapter, with ch1 of the manga = prologue of novel; so I say stick with it (or check back in) around ch 70-80.

unless the assassin is evil or something, this quest seems poorly balanced. MC has barely done anything besides walk behind Mr. Stabby while Mr. Stabby goes on a stabbing spree.

I mean, what was stopping this guy from doing all of this on his own with his pointy knives and magic ring? Sure, more people means better protection for the lady, but if Skyrim taught me anything, its alot easier to save the damsel once everyone has been thoroughly stabbed from the shadows.

The quest is supposed to be for really high level, only reason it activated was because he resisted "fear" because of his title. So the game thought he was much much higher level, so the NPC is also higher level.

The MC stays unlikable for a few arcs in the webnovel (a couple hundred chapters or so), and slowly improves his personality over time until he becomes a likable character. But yes, it's painful to see how shitty he is in his early days.

Thanks for the info guys, this site has the best users i swear. I'm super basic and like MC's with good characters rather than having to develop good characters. That being said his personality won't be enough for me to stop reading this
